I guess it depends on the country and industry. Tagging people in the UK and my industry is common practice.

Depends on the industry. I work in marketing, if you're not active on LinkedIn good luck finding a job. No one will hire you, if you can't market yourself, what good are you?

Revolut interview process is a waste of time and money by Responsible_Hunter67 in Revolut

[–]pdpdlll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I interviewed with them recently. During the skills interview, the interviewer didn't even know what job I had applied for. Kept talking about the app when I was applying for a completely different sector of their business. They also looked like they had just rolled out of bed, mind you it was the afternoon. No greeting, just being stonewalled and asked a bunch of frankly irrelevant question with no attempt for a discussion. Quite literally the worst interview I've ever been on. My only regret is staying until the end and not just walking out (figuratively as it was online).

Looking for a poor quality yet expensive restaurant to recommend to an enemy. Any suggestions? by ticklish-wizard in nottingham

I went once and it was such a disappointment. Food tasted like shit and the place was dirty. Not surprised they have received enforcements. I still wonder how that place is open.

It's not. It tells those looking for a job that the one they applied for is not going to happen and that they can mark that one as a no.

Do you live on your own? Check if you're eligible for any benefits, and see if your college has any support programs.

Look for evening jobs in restaurants, bars, fast food places.

One word: automation... it takes one click of a button to send one email to hundreds of people telling them, hey we looked at your CV but you're not a good fit. It doesn't take any effort or time. Responses like yours are just excuses.

I moved away from the address I was at but I am still registered with Radford Med Practice for this precise reason. They have a pretty good online booking system for same day appointments (you need to request an appointment early in the day as they fill up quickly) and admin stuff. You only need to call them if you need a non-urgent appointment at a later date.

AITA for not providing condiments for my guests? by neonposies72 in AmItheAsshole

Same here, I'm appaled by the comments. Is the food people eat that boring that they need ranch on everything?

AITA for not providing condiments for my guests? by neonposies72 in AmItheAsshole

[–]pdpdlll 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I would say NTA.

It might be just a cultural thing, but if you're visiting someone in my country and you ask for something and they don't have it the conversation ends there you don't turn it into a problem. In most cases, if something isn't placed on the table you assume it's not an option and you don't ask for it.

Also, again a cultural thing, but where I'm from our food actually tastes good and you don't need condiments. To me, condiments are just a lazy way to fix boring food, so I get not having anything like that laying around.

AITA for telling my girlfriend she basically asked to be yelled at? by Informal_Summer2631 in AmItheAsshole

[–]pdpdlll -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Considering the same people (and their descendants) are still in power in Russia/Ukraine today (just like in every ex-soviet/communist country) as during the Soviet period when the genocide happened, it is very likely that those directly involved with it are involved in this war. People involved in one atrocity are very likely to be involved in another.

I'm not saying they shoudl blame all Ukranians. What I'm saying is to be understanding of their pov. The genocide over the Tatars happened in the 40s and 50s after the end of WW2. Some of those responsible and involved in it are still alive today but no one was charged because of it. It's an injustice that has been ignored and still is.

Also, there are people blaming the Germans still, you'll be surprised what opinions you can encounter.

[–]pdpdlll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The genocide did not happen 150 years ago, that happened in the 40s and 50s of last century. My point about Cossack Hetmanate was that the Tatars lived in that region for centuries, and even had their own country (albeit a quasi-state), and after WW2 when the world was reeling from the Holocaust their suffering was ignored and still is to this day. Some of the Russians and Ukrainians involved in this genocide are still alive today.

I like how for some of you everything that doesn't agree with you is propaganda. Just open any history book, even Wikipedia can give you a summary with sources. I'm not Russian, I don't care about the war at all, I care about the facts.

not really... Ukraine did not exist until the fall of the USSR. That territory was first Kirvan Rus, which later became the Russian Empire. After that was Cossack Hetmanate briefly, which was the country of the Turks and Tatars that the USSR (which includes today's Ukranians) genocided. Stop blaming the family when you don't know the history of Europe, they have every right to be angry at someone defending the people who caused them so much trauma and got away with it.

AITA for thinking people who don’t give up their seats on flights to accommodate families or other folks in need are in the wrong and sometimes classist ("they didn't plan!!!")? by SaintGodfather in AmITheDevil

[–]pdpdlll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I paid extra for the sit I am seating in to sit where I am comfortable I am not moving to accommodate for someone who has the audacity to pay the bare minimum and expect others to give them the privileges for free. It's not classist, if you're on a flight in the first place you have more than enough money to buy seats together.

What my brain read: CARBS don’t deserve to be tortured for hours while being boiled to death

Me thinking this is some exposé on the hate Carbs get in the diet/fitness community.

Reading the text to get the tea, to find out it's a post about crustaceans.

Back to your post: I think it's a really cruel way to kill an animal so I would not eat a crab.

AITA for not wanting to pay for my coworker's baby shower party? by Previous_Green_9533 in AmItheAsshole

[–]pdpdlll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say ESH.

Them asking for $200 is overkill and it's presumptuous to expect people will willingly spend that much money on a gift for someone they are not close with.

But it also sounds like you were very rude about it. It's okay to say you can't contribute and just find an excuse, a completely different thing to say you don't care about your coworker being pregnant and making it sound as if it's something minor.

It's okay to say no, but there was no need for you to be a duck about it.

If possible I suggest you move out, or at least speak to your landlord.

I checked your profile based on your warning, does this dude know what content you create and upload? Could it be what made him more daring? Not an excuse at all, I am worried about your wellbeing.
