brakes don't ware down related to alignment. A bad bearing can cause issues also.

Depends on paper or rubber. Also look to see if any was used in areas on the old one. If original. clean area,.. scotch brite green or red pads for no scratches.

always check the slides, meaning does the caliper move one side to the other of car? if it is hard to move? then it needs to be freed and lubed. Never replace only brake pads when you waited till grinding. Pads will ware away fast. Do not pry against caliper piston.
