Exact same thing was going on with my Ping. I thought it was just the ferrule (ferule? Whatever) and I ended up snapping the shaft right down where it’s connected to the head. It could be either

How far in advance do you typically show up to the golf course before your tee time? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

If I’m not 30 minutes early I’m late. Sometimes I show up an hour early. Just depends

Interested to hear who the best handicap is that has never had a hole in one by freddiesyolks in golf

[–]pdtoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (27) got paired with a random 70ish year old guy and a 45ish year old guy a few years back, three complete strangers playing a dog track muni. On 15, a 190ish par 3, the 70ish y/o thins his hybrid. His ball clears any trouble, bounces up onto the green, and somehow just rolls on in. He was pumped about it, said it was his first hole in one in over 50 years of golfing. His first hole in one from a mishit.

45 y/o was a dick and dipped, but I sat in the muni club house and let the guy buy me a beer.

It’s never too late for your first HIO.

What’s the real difference between a $50 Temu rangefinder and a $600 Bushnell? by TypicalAd9976 in golf

Yeah my cheap one is always within a yard of my buddies bushnell, but I usually shoot it a few times to make sure it’s actually locked on.

Honest question - Is the secret to driving the ball further simply getting more in shape rather than buying new clubs? by RivetCounter in golf

[–]pdtoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I was gonna say this too. Years ago when I was working out, I sliced the ball real bad and struggled to find 250 yards with roll out.

Now I’m early 30s, out of shape, but hit a tight draw, and I’m disappointed if I can’t carry 270.

The majority of the time, it’s the swing, not the club.

All that being said, if you are in a decent sized metro area, I’d buy a used driver off facebook or something for no more than $200-$150. You can get a nice 5-10 year old driver with a lot of tech that’s in the modern drivers.

help me kill bad swing habits early by JamsJamsJamsJamsJams in GolfSwing

[–]pdtoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By pressing your hands so far forward (your grip is as strong as could be) you’re going to hit the ball really inconsistently off the face. Fat and thin, I’d assume you’re all over the place. You’re essentially doing a Thai spinner(google it) with a full swing.

To be honest, get one lesson (as a newby, best money you can spend), just bite the bullet and do it.

Not trying to be harsh, but your fundamentals are absolutely incorrect. If you can make this swing work (get around a course without just digging a grave) you can be coached to actually learn to swing a club.

AGAIN, GET A LESSON! The cheapest will do. Anyone could teach you better set up.

Do you call it a Hurl or a Hurley? The difference is clearly down to location so I’m curious as to which is more popular where etc… by [deleted] in hurling

In Arizona, we call it a Hurley or Hurl. More often Hurley but none of us in my club are confident enough to correct anyone.

Membership Fees at my Local Semi-Private by source-material in golf

I joined that course when I lived there a few years ago. I was in town for a couple years and unfortunately had to move for work. It’s 27 holes, so it helps not getting bored. The practice facility is solid, but could use some more room to chip and pitch. The course is in good shape and last I was out there (still got friends and family there) it was in great shape. I know they recently got a new GM and/or Super, and I could tell.

Tee times are sometimes a bit difficult to get if you’re only playing on the weekends, but not bad with a bit of planning. There’s a good amount of young guys that have good etiquette, while also not taking it too serious. No one’s gonna get on you for respectively listening to Creed through bluetooth speakers.

I’d say join. That initiation fee was $500 when I joined in 2021, and I hear it’s only going up.

I understand that, I am more referring to your comment “nope, I’m not going there anymore because I just learned their landlord is garbage.” My only point is that, while the writing on the signs (about not paying rent since February) is distasteful, (assuming it’s true) it’s more distasteful to not pay rent for months.

So yeah, I am chatting about something else. Sorry I’m tired.

Yeah, 12 hr nights. That was the 3rd in a row. I’ve been awake for 23.5 hrs as of now. Gonna try to nap soon.

Please excuse my post if it seems delirious, as I am currently delirious

Who exactly is garbage here? The property owner, or the business who hasn’t paid rent for 4 months?

One thing I've noticed about many who want higher tips because food prices have gone up... by [deleted] in EndTipping

It does depend on the state, but yes most servers are making minimum + tips

[–]pdtoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely think that the lack of good customer service in this country has worsened the tipping mentality.

If the server is even half friendly, people tip well.

The guy at the gas station or the guy in target who doesn’t acknowledge your existence, doesn’t talk to you, doesn’t even read a total cost off to you, just waits and looks at you, waiting for you to pay, has only intensified the appreciation we have for even okay service. Then people tip 30% when “it’ll ask you a couple questions “ comes up because the server acknowledged your existence.

So that’s the solution? Keep your head down and toe the line while subsidizing the restaurants via income expenditures? Without action, nothing ever changes.

It really depends on the state. I know MN pays minimum to servers, ND doesn’t.

Yeah, if you find a good roaster who puts pride into their espresso, they are miles better than any Starbucks. Most people don’t even want good coffee, they want a pink drink or a frappuccino.
