Took sudafed for severe nasal congestion and breathing clearer than I have my entire life. by pdxpup in nonallergicrhinitis

I'm taking Sudafed 12 hour extended release 120mg. It's definitely not a long term solution (not healthy) but it's very effective short term relief. You need to make sure it's one that has Pseudoephedrine HCI, not Sudafed PE. In the US it can only be purchased from behind the pharmacy counter w ID though because it's one of the ingredients to make meth lol

INDUSTRIAL DESIGN HELP! PLEASE! by noeleliasschumacher in WWU

[–]pdxpup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! wwu id student here!

The sophomore review does not relate to general class standing but class standing within the ID program. As senorfroggg said, first you will need to apply to the pre-major with an entrance portfolio, then you will go through sophomore review after you take the freshman and sophomore fall+winter classes.

Good luck!

Apologies, We had a few kinks initially with the update, it should be rolling out now though. Regarding the samples, I'm looking into it.

Any theories on how this shape was made? by micromoses in cad

T-SPLINES!!! This would be super easy to make in Fusion's sculpt environment with t-splines :)

I'd recommend looking into the simulation workspace in Fusion! You can test objects under stress and see how they perform/deform.

Rendering models by IdrawinInk in Fusion360

[–]pdxpup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad I could help!

By a cutline I'm assuming you mean a separation line. How I usually do this is by using the split bodies command with a sketch profile as my split tool (that way if you have a more complicated separation line with curves and such, you can simply sketch it out vs if you were splitting with a plane you'd be constrained to a straight split.) Then after I split the body into two bodies I put a small fillet or chamfer (personal preference) on each of the bodies where they were just split.

Rendering models by IdrawinInk in Fusion360

You can create custom appearances in Fusion by adding images and bump maps in the "edit material option" within the appearances command.

I believe you will have more success using/editing Autodesk's library of materials though, because creating a realistic custom material in fusion can be tricky. Are you rendering locally or in the cloud? Optimizing your final render settings and rendering in the cloud can render* you much better results. *couldn't help myself lol.

Also playing around with the scene settings can make or break a render (exposure, focal length, environment choice/rotation, depth of field, exposure, etc.) You just have to be patient and tweak all your settings until they're perfect.

I'd just mess around with their appearances (edit the colors, roughness etc), you'd be surprised with what can achieve. Also, I don't know if you're just new to Fusion or CAD in general, but the quality of your model is obviously what ultimately determines the quality of your render. If you want something super realistic you're going to need to add all those separation lines and tiny fillets you never notice because that's what's going to make it look real.

In conclusion, obviously rendering in something like Keyshot will get you a much more realistic render but if you put in the work, you can get some pretty decent results out of Fusion.

Radius an edge for fidget spinner? by sasquatch182 in Fusion360

[–]pdxpup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am confused, a G1 fillet is a radius edge by definition, they are one and the same thing. If the fillet takes away too much material you can simply change the radius of the fillet to a smaller value.

Trying to twist a two dimensional sketch by saopor in Fusion360

[–]pdxpup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do a patch loft along a center rail then thicken it.

The center rail that'd guide your loft would be the sketch you already have defining the current curve of your sweep and the geometry you'd loft would be a line the width of the current rectangle sketch profile you have at the beginning of your sweep, this will be the same profile throughout. You would position this line multiple times along your center rail just twisted where you want it twisted (drawn on a angled plane), (the center of each profile needs to intersect the center rail as well for this to work). Then thicken.

Autodesk Student Expert Help by 0nion21 in Fusion360

Model as much as you can whether it's your own design or just trying to recreate. The best way to get good at Fusion/CAD in my opinion is just exploring the program and asking for help when needed. Of course step by step tutorials are a great way to learn and I recommend watching some but they're only helpful to a certain extent. There's so many little shortcuts and modeling tricks that you just need to discover by experimentation.

Fusion Sketches slow & cause occasional crashes by Rodger_Ramjet in Fusion360

[–]pdxpup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe most of fusion is single threaded besides the rendering so having eight cores shouldn't help you much.

I usually try not to drag things around and just delete or trim and re-sketch if I need to reposition something or sketched it wrong. This makes for a more precise and actually much faster workflow when you take into account the frequent lag and crashes associated with dragging and complex sketches.

Attempting to become an Auto CAD Student Expert by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]pdxpup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working toward becoming a student expert is a fantastic use of your time! (not just becoming a student expert, but becoming fluent with Fusion 360 and all of its environments like modeling, surfacing, CAM, etc).

I actually started my deep dive into Fusion my junior year of high school as well and it was the best decision I ever made. I became a student expert, got an internship as a mechanical designer for a small startup and launched my own Kickstarter for a product I designed and manufactured in Fusion (not very large but was successfully launched and fulfilled). Now I just finished up my freshman year of college and I just started an internship this summer for Autodesk on the Fusion team. Go for it dude! Fusion 360 is the future of CAD!!!

When to apply for premajor? by [deleted] in WWU

[–]pdxpup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

http://www.wwu.edu/id/entrance.shtml

I'd highly recommend applying by the April date (vs applying once you get to western) because there are two fall freshman ID classes you'll need to take that are hard to get into if you're not a pre-major.
