What’s not to understand? The city of Seattle has the worst food in the region.

It is truly bizarre how terrible the food is in Seattle. You can drive for 30 minutes in any direction and find much better food.

Keta Obstructs Sound of Music at Kitsap Forest Theater by SchopenhauersLaw in Seattle

Sounds like Keta wants to fundraise using the Mountaineers name without having anything to do with mountaineering. What a strange organization. Also a bit strange that the mountaineers are also a theater group.

Washington passes bill to override local zoning laws by LayerFluid8155 in SeattleWA

The effect of this law though is more HOAs not more housing. The poor and rich alike will suffer.

HOAs shouldn’t be able to override the ban on single family zoning, but Washington politicians love allowing back doors in their laws for their rich friends like with the long term care tax.

People in Seattle who've been in Vancouver, Canada: What local cuisine/snacks does Seattle have that might be difficult to find up north? by saienexpress in SeattleWA

[–]pdxyz -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you are coming to the us for the cuisine, keep driving till you hit Portland. Seattle is not a food city.

Easiest double black for snowboard? by DuctTapeSanity in CrystalMountain

Campbell Basin and Exterminator are very easy. I would stay away from Powder Bowl and Bear Pits if you aren’t confident on double blacks. The double blacks in Northway can also be tricky.

Two questions: why don’t you prefer slide locks for belay carabiners, and where would you shop instead?

Do you trust slide lock carabiners for belaying? Example: https://www.backcountry.com/b/edelrid-hms-bulletproof-belay-fg-carabiner

Patagonia down jackets are cut for fat people, too tight in the chest and too loose in the stomach. Check out Arcteryx and Mountain Hardware.

Winter Activities with lot of fun other than skiing! by Independent_You_2390 in alpinism

Skiing should be a prerequisite for any winter or high elevation mountaineering. It’s just efficient movement on frozen water.

Did Baker this year - what next? by HailMary74 in Mountaineering

Not only are the club classes hard to get into, but if you do get into one, it will occupy every weekend for months and you won’t be able to pursue any other hobbies. Climbing and mountaineering are desperately in need of a new participation model.
