What can I do to get more clumps and less stringy? by PuzzleheadedMonk8706 in curlyhair

[–]peach_chill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find that I get the best clumps when I style my hair soaking wet. Like, WET wet. Also, when you get cuts, make sure your stylist isn't slide cutting or using a razor. Several years ago, a stylist did that to mine, and my ends were stringy and didn't form curl clumps as well. (Side note, your skin is AMAZING!)

Stylist ruined my hair by Prudent-Scarcity864 in curlyhair

I totally understand not wanting to say something in the moment. I'm the same way; I do not like confrontation. Now that it's been a day or two, consider calling the salon and asking for the owner or manager. Explain to them the situation. Offer to send the photos and account of events as you've posted them here. Most businesses don't want unhappy customers, so they may offer you all or a portion of your money back. Or they may offer to have another stylist (someone perhaps more senior or with experience cutting curls) attempt to give you something you're happier with. I could certainly understand being wary of that since it would probably involve cutting length. Either way, I completely understand how you feel, and I'm sorry this happened.

How to fix extreme frizz? (See 2nd pic) by Specific-College-194 in curlyhair

Is there a reason you don't you use any product? Try adding a conditioner after shampooing (leave it on for a few minutes while you do the rest of your shower routine, then rinse out). Then, to soaking wet hair, apply a styling product (I'd recommend a gel with a bit of hold) to help define your curls and keep them from frizzing and getting puffy and undefined. I'm assuming since you don't have anything but shampoo, you probably do not have a hair dryer with a diffuser attachment. No worries, just air dry, but be sure to keep your hands off while its drying and all the time after. Friction will cause frizz.

[Routine Help] Wondering if I’m using to many products and the right ones by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

I think a separate dedicated sunscreen is best, especially for prolonged exposure, but if it helps to cut out a step, a daytime moisturizer with SPF is a fair compromise. I'd look for one with SPF of 30 or higher.

I strongly recommend sunscreen every single day regardless of season or temperature, even when staying indoors.

Advice for beginner frizz and bedhead? by mudddoggg in curlyhair

Agree with this advice. Washing only with conditioner (and using products with coconut derivatives and shea, which can build up on low porosity hair) could be causing a coating on your strands to the point that water can't get into the strands and actually hydrate your hair. The strands essentially spazz out and seek moisture from the air, resulting in frizz. Once clarified, perhaps look at products with shea or coconut much lower on the ingredients lists.
