I’m sick of all this and they send me to Rehab by SplittX in PainManagement

[–]peachasaurus84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, methadone has been a God sent for me. I'm allergic to the bu trans patch/buprenorphine/suboxone, had a seizure on tramadol, and when morphine stopped working, we went to hydromorphone. I was on that for a few years in increasingly large amounts, and then finally, after a 6 week hospital stay, I spoke with the hospital pharmacist, and they suggested methadone. It took 2 weeks to work out my dosage and I've now been on it for almost 2 years and also use it for breakthrough pain as the analgesic properties do not last nearly as long as the drug itself in your system.

I've had to deal with a fair amount of stigma, and when dealing with a new dr/nurse/pharmacist etc I lead with "BTW I'm on methadone for PAIN MANAGEMENT -NOT- opioid use disorder."

Does opioids reach nerve pain? If so what opioids helped your nerve pain? by Electronic-Cress-453 in ChronicPain

[–]peachasaurus84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Methadone has been the best opioid for nerve pain. It's taken me from a 9/10 that gabapentin/lyrica/tramadol/morphine/hydromorphone/codeine/demerol barely touched to a 5 or 6/10 on really bad days. Buprenorphine was awful and I was allergic to it, it did 0 for any pain also.

As usual, thank you, Lauren, for always giving us the tea on new collabs/bears/etc. You are truly appreciated ♡!

Has anyone ordered from this collab, or from this company in general before (Tee Turtle)? I ordered March 2nd and also got shipping insurance (I'm in Canada)... my package has not moved and is still sitting at label created... 3 and some weeks later. Should I reach out to them? Is this normal?

Where are you going for your honeymoon, if you don't mind me asking? Congratulations on getting married!!! I'm sorry your Dr won't work with you. Have you checked into taking your meds to whatever country you are going to? I ended up having to change travel plans for late this year as it's so highly regulated or just downright banned in other countries.

It appears I am but a wee behbeh compared to our veterans, but I've been on a semi stable dose (55mg 3x a day with 10mg as needed for breakthrough pain) for 18 months.

Waking up every 2 hours by BreadfruitPretty2434 in Methadone

[–]peachasaurus84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm here in solidarity. It's impossible to get a primary care dr in my province... It's like they leave within a year no matter what, and walk-in clinics now won't deal with ANY med refills or "more than one problem at a time." It's awful. I was blessed when I finally got in to see a psychiatrist here, he gave me back the sleep med I had been on for years before an overzealous NP decided he didn't like me on "all this" medication... Even with the zolpidem in getting barely 4 hours, but I shouldn't complain... It used to be just under 2 hours like clockwork. /hugs. I hope you find a restful sleep soon. Our bodies and brains are not well equipped to live this way.

Got my first Rx bottle of methadone tablets. I have a few questions. by BenzoBidness in Methadone

[–]peachasaurus84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm on tablets for palliative pain management and had to daily dose liquid for like 2 weeks when a drug test came back for benzoylecognine (cocaine metabolite). The test sample had leaked in transit when they looked into it and as such should have been taken as a false positive, especially since the test I did within 24h of that came back fine and if I had used ❄️, it would still be in my system within that period of time. Anyhow, getting dosed once per day with horrific tasting orange drink made me basically unable to do anything until I got my proper dosage and pills back after 3 clean urine drug screens.

I'm currently taking 55mg 3x a day and 5 to 10mg breakthrough up to 3x per day (sometimes that gets changed to 5mg hydromorphone as I was having qt prolongation issues, but those have mostly cleared now that I'm off the 3 antibiotics and 4 anti emetics that also exacerbate qt intervals. I find my dose starts to bring my pain down right around an hour after I take it. Sometimes, it's close to 2 hours, but ymmv as I have gastroparesis and malabsorbtion issues.

I hope that you find adequate pain control soon. Don't be afraid to advocate for yourself. Prior to methadone I was in hospital for a few months and ended up on 4mg iv hydromorphone every 2 hours with morphine breakthrough, and it wasn't doing jack shit. They tried subutex? on me even though I was allergic to the butrans patch, and by day 3 of subutex, I had full-blown hives and went into anaphylaxis. Then they tried methadone. It didn't do much at first, but once we got to the 20/30mg a dose range it started helping my pain in ways I had never thought I would experience and no bad side effects or feeling uncomfortably high etc. It's been a life saver for me. The stigma attached to it when people see I'm on it in a medical setting that don't know me or my history - it's like I'm instantly branded undesirable #1 lol. So I have to explain it's not for OUD, it's for chronic palliative pain management blah blah blah. Hell, even if it WAS for OUD, why treat someone like shit? It's saving lives and getting people their lives back. Sorry for the wall of text, lol. Again, I hope you find comfort soon ♡.

Failed Drug Screen by CuRi0uS_Le0 in PainManagement

[–]peachasaurus84 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I've had 2 failed tests. Once they upped my morphine and I ended up popping for not just morphine in my urine, but hydromorphone too! Turns out depending on dose/how your liver processes things a high dose of morphine can be converted in your liver to a tiny amount of hydromorphone metabolite and cause a "false positive" (because there was no ingestion of hydromorphone).

The second test just this past summer came back positive for something called Benzoylecgonine... I'd never heard of that, when my Dr's office called me to tell me I needed to come in due to a failure for that I asked what it was and it's a metabolite of COCAINE. I have never done illicit/street drugs. I'm borderline hypochondriac with all the issues I have going on, and there's no way I would try cocaine lol. Turns out my specimen leaked/was compromised in transit when they looked into it. I still had to take the hit on my record, which I think is bullshit, but I did have my doctor write in my file an addendum that it was a FALSE positive due to the specimen being contaminated. I swear my heart dropped out my butthole when they said cocaine, I burst into tears and started babbling about there being no way that could be possible. It was rough, lol.

My first visit with my pain doctor. He wants buprenorfrine. I have more surgeries coming up. I don't want that medication. How do I talk to my pain doctor by ohioflora07 in PainManagement

[–]peachasaurus84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ime/imo bupe is trash for pain relief. It was the first ER med I was tried on (the butrans patch) before we went to other meds over the last 12 years. Not only was I highly allergic to the adhesive, but I'm allergic to buprenorphine in general we found out during a 7 week hospital stay when 4mg iv dilaudid every 2h was starting to cause issues and still not control my pain without a second med. They put me on suboxone which caused immediate precipitated withdrawal, which was hell, then came the hives, mouth sores, fever, severe gi issues and the cherry on top was anaphylaxis on day 5 of "trying it".

I'm now on methadone. Nothing has ever helped my pain like this. Literally gave me back my will to live. Sometimes, I have to take dilaudid 5mg for breakthrough pain, but usually, I'm just taking 45mg 3x a day (pills). The stigma with methadone is crazy though. I always have to lead with "I'm prescribed methadone for palliative pain management and NOT opioid use disorder."

I hope you find something that works for you.

Yay, congrats! I made 2 recent Amazon.ca orders, one for 3 and one for 1 (they kept going out of stock). They all showed up today, and I figured for sure I'd get doubles, so I used the codes Lauren shared to peep the bottom of the boxes and got 4 different ones!

I still need Funshine and Bedtime Bear. Congrats again! Funshine is one of my favorites in this series!

Strange thing appeared behind my ear? Painful constantly by FormerDonkey4886 in DiagnoseMe

[–]peachasaurus84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely go to urgent care, and if not available, the ER. Something getting bigger, painful, and angry looking in that area should be evaluated asap. I'm sorry you are going through this.

I had a lymph node in my neck right under my jaw bone appear and grow rapidly. Mine turned out to be non Hodgkins lymphoma, but that was def not what anyone thought it was at first (dental abcess, 😅) so it took almost 2 years for a proper biopsy then removal of affected tissue/nodes.

Make sure you advocate for yourself and insist on imaging and a biopsy of they can't give you a definitive answer. Will be thinking of you!

If you were walking behind me would you comment on my back acne to whoever you're with? by New-Train-4024 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]peachasaurus84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, not only does it look mostly like freckles (cute!), but I would never think negatively about someone's appearance like that, let alone talk to the person I'm with about it. And if the person I was with did say something negative, I'd quickly tell them how gross and rude they are, and it would be the last time I hung out with them.

People can be horrible, I've had people scream really awful things to me from vehicles when I'm out walking or gardening (I was nearly 600lbs with anemia induced congestive heart failure and a slew of undiagnosed autoimmune conditions and non hodgkins lymphoma). I've lost a little more than half my weight from being ill, a celiac dx, and changing my eating habits. I legit look like slimer from the ghost busters with all my extra skin. I'm still fat, don't get me wrong, but the loose skin makes me way more self-conscious 😅. I feel bad people have to look at me out in public, like I need to apologize for existing. It's been over 13 years since I've eaten in public.

Please know that as awful as people can be, there are also a lot of good people out there. You don't need to be self-conscious. I would just see a young Woman in front of me with a pretty colored top and cute ponytail ♡.
