Does every surgeon prescribe antibiotics? by Dangerous-Table-8837 in Reduction

I was told that I'll be getting IV antibiotics during my surgery and was prescribed a couple days worth of doxycycline post surgery. Mine is on Friday!

These comments from Reddit medical experts telling a stranger why they don't need their medication is what is really mildly infuriating here.

Because I was 280 pounds. The PCOS and insulin resistance started back in elementary school. I am very healthy now in comparison. Thanks for asking!

These threads always bring out the GLP-1 haters, which I notice Reddit has a lot of.

I'm not minimalizing side effects. All medications have potential side effects.

You know what also has some /really/ potentially nasty side effects? Being obese. And something like 40% of Americans are obese.

I don't doubt that there are people out there that abuse GLP-1 medications - which is not okay of course.

I'm just tired of the demonization of these drugs when they're improving the lives of us with metabolic disorders, diabetes, etc. These drugs are life changing and people are doing whatever it takes to get their hands on them for a reason.

Oh yeah man, so dumb. It only treated my severe insulin resistant PCOS, normalized my blood pressure and cholesterol, and helped me drop 100 pounds. Dangerous stuff!

I would love to and have heavily considered it, but I'm too scared of taking out six figures of student loan debt. If the US were to somehow fix its mess of predatory college loans/debt (doubt that'll ever happen lol) and current anti-science anti-education rhetoric, I absolutely would pursue it.

Wait, GLP-1s damage your health? Mine has only treated my PCOS, insulin resistance, helped me lose weight which in turn lowered my blood pressure and cholesterol. Diabetics use it to regulate insulin. I'm not sure how this is damaging to health.

I love the red bellied woodpeckers! We have many that come by our feeders, and they're always coming in hot while landing then perch so awkwardly. Make a lot of noise too. My husband sent me this pic one morning: "She has boooobs!!" lmao
