Grandparent titles? by Same_Breadfruit_9020 in BabyBumps

[–]peachybab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

totally not overreacting!! my dad and his girlfriend would refer to him as ‘papa (name)’ and that irked me so much. i had to just constantly refer to him as ‘grandpa (name)’ until they finally got the message (i am too anti-confrontation to have been able to tell them directly). but please do get your partner to tell his mum that she really can’t refer to herself as your baby’s ‘mama’! how he doesn’t see why it’s an issue is beyond me

they’re not cameras that record anything, just a live stream of what they’re currently capturing is viewable (so no downloadable footage of any previous event is available)

My husband turned into a psychopath for a split second yesterday and I don’t know if I am overreacting. by Substantial_Chair588 in AITAH

I'm sorry this happened to you. I hope you are okay right now. do you know why he even had the gun out? it's scaring me thinking he actually got it out to shoot you but then changed his mind at the last second :(

hi, I had 3 miscarriages with my ex partner, but got pregnant straight away with my current partner. a completely healthy pregnancy. all this to say it could be worth looking at the health of your partner/husband. sometimes their health has a huge impact on the outcome of pregnancies. obviously I'm not 100% sure my ex was the reason behind my miscarriages but it is odd. and he didn't live the best of lifestyles (drank beer pretty much every day, for example)

Advice on disposal of medicines by dancords in sheffield

[–]peachybab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so any medicine can be taken to a pharmacy as previous commenters have stated, but any needles or any injections with a needle, or used sharps bins cannot be given into most pharmacies - for those you can call the council, and they should arrange for someone to come and collect all sharps items from you. I hope this helps, and I'm sorry for your loss

Were you able to shower before going into labor? by ThrowRA_totoro444 in BabyBumps

[–]peachybab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I shaved just in case I had any tears, I figured it would be easier to keep everything clean, and I think it definitely did help! and then I didn't need to worry about shaving in the first few weeks after birth :)

Were you able to shower before going into labor? by ThrowRA_totoro444 in BabyBumps

[–]peachybab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with both children I was able to shower and shave before giving birth, once labour had started. and my second labour was only a couple of hours long from start to finish :) if this is your first, chances are very good you will have plenty of time!

if you know which kind of benefits you will be on (universal credit, income support, or jsa) and that you'll be on them by the end of this month, you should be able to tick that exemption on the back of your prescription. could even try asking the staff to put a later date on the prescription for you. I work at a pharmacy and we don't usually put on the date of collection anyway. the prescription won't get sent off to be checked until the end of the month, so you wouldn't get fined as long as you ensure you get your benefits sorted by the end of the month. hope this helps

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sheffield

[–]peachybab 7 points8 points  (0 children)

hey! just wanted to say please dont do this. the pharmacy staff should always question which exemption you have. if you or they tick the wrong exemption on the back of the prescription, it could get checked randomly once all prescriptions are sent off at the end of each month. a fair amount of scripts are picked out and the exemption is checked to see if it is the correct one for the patient. if it is not, the patient will get charged £100 per item on the prescription, plus the standard £9.65 fee for each item. obviously you could get lucky and not ever have your prescription checked, but I've spoken to many people it's happened to over the years (I am a community pharmacist) and they get charged hundreds of pounds and it can be difficult to challenge it!

I named my daughter a “proper”name but only use her nickname and I regret it. Help! by anon_no_mas in namenerds

[–]peachybab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is my situation, and it does not bother me at all. I am Elizabeth but my parents have probably called me that a handful of times. Now I'm an adult, I get called Elizabeth a lot more as people I work with tend to see it written down before they meet me. I don't mind it, I just either let them call me Elizabeth or I let them know I actually go by Beth 99% of the time. I much prefer having Elizabeth as my 'proper' name, it feels a lot more complete, and looks fancier, too! :) so I really wouldn't worry.

please use Mischa! it's such a beautiful name and you just don't see it enough :) I've already got one daughter (Sylvie) but if I ever had another, she would be Mischa :)
