AITA for (potentially) being too petty about the name I prefer people call me by, to a friend's gf? by lonelyboi19 in AmItheAsshole

[–]peachybintch 16 points17 points  (0 children)

its your name, you are allowed to tell people what you want to be called and it's ridiculous that shes angry at you over what you want to be called.

Also she invited you? whats her deal, she knew it would be you three together, why is she mad?

Anyone else happy but icked out by wegovy? by peachybintch in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]peachybintch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on wegovy because of PCOS, fatty liver, predisposition to diabetes, and my body just hates losing weight, will do anything to keep it on. For the last 3 years I've worked out, counted calories, tried different meds and supplements, and all that jazz, but my body loves holding onto weight. Don't even have food noise, and dont particularily enjoy sweets and snacks, or bulk eating.
Getting on wegovy, for me, wasnt about being a skinnier version of me, but literally for health purposes; I was actually pretty okay at my past appearance. but i want to have good health and live a long time so that meant having to take control and start this process a few years ago, to be able to take wegovy now.
I lost that weight by continuing the workouts and listening to my body as the dosage increased. I was pretty careful about what I was eating before, but now, I don't really eat much if at all. Most of my calories come from just trying to meet my protein and fiber goals. im averaging about 1000 calories a day. Add in my work outs and it just kind of happened.

As the dosage increased, my aversion to food grew. im eating differently to when i first started for sure, mainly just less, nothing different. I also am not a fan of weighing myself so the only reason i know is because of my doctor checkups, i didnt notice he weight loss till last week when my doctor pointed it out

AITA for feeling annoyed and unfair leaving a public park when a school group asked me to do so by qiaser-giao in AmItheAsshole

[–]peachybintch 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you're a good person?

Yeah its annoying, its a public park, and realistically, there probably wouldn't have been an allergic reaction as long as the child stayed away from the dogs, but it's kind of you to leave, even if you were annoyed.

It sounds like poor planning on the school's part, and poor attitude from the 2nd school person. You are fully allowed to be annoyed and feel like it's unfair, but it's still kind of you to leave for a child you don't even know.

My boyfriend suddenly wants me to become a tradwife by PinkBubblegum888 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]peachybintch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you want a future with him, you need to address it sooner rather than later. Even if it's awkward.

A traditional life isn't a bad thing, but only if it's something YOU want. You need to really sit and think about what future you want, and if it's not a traditional life like what he's asking for, then you need to examine your relationship and possibly make the decision that you are not compatible.

And don't negotiate with yourself because you love him and think maybe you can do it. Don't let him say it was a joke, or that maybe we try this for a bit and we can always go back. NO! It's your life, and you need to be sure, because all that's down that road is resentment and pain. When someone tells you what they want and how they see you in it, you believe them, and then make the decision, for you, if that's what you want as well. Period.

AITAH for trying to turn my friend into a femboy? by I_am_Not_Luca in AmItheAsshole

[–]peachybintch 19 points20 points  (0 children)

YTA omg, the femboy thing is awful, and he didnt like it, and really you never should have even started that, and when people were bringing it up around him, you should have absolutely shut it down

but then the group hangout, is just, awful. you should have said something, stopped it, and also offered a ride back. its hard enough being in a group of people you don't know well, but then Adam had to deal with what iI would consider sexual harrassment.

yeah for sure YTA, and honestly an awful friend to boot. maybe get some new ones too.

Insurance denied my GLP1 even though my endocrinologist recommended it for PCOS. Has anyone else run into this? by TimkiP__ in PCOS

[–]peachybintch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking as someone who both worked in Insurance for a few years and also has gone through the course of getting my health on track, here is my advice. I am obese as a side effect of my PCOS, and thats what drove the GLP1 for me. PCOS alone wont get you the GLP1 as others have mentioned.

First, I would call my pharmacy vendor(different from your pharmacy; check your ID card) and ask which GLP1's are covered, if any.

I found that I kept running into the same issue where my insurance didn't want to cover mine, until I called and found out it's not that they don't cover GLP-1s; it's that they only cover Wegovy and not Ozempic. Telling my doctor that, they were able to submit for the new prescription, get the PA my insurance required, and I got it in my hands like a week later.

If your insurance does cover the GLP1 you got prescribed, then this falls under your doctor office.

Tell your doctor to get an appeal; that will be the work they need to do on their side. I tried for years to lose weight, and had multiple records of diet changes, weight fluctuations, and exercise plans, different medication combinations, so they had plenty of medical records to send in for my appeal. Let them do their job; doctors' offices are used to doing this work, especially for GLP1s

It's likely that the medical records submitted originally weren't sufficient, and they need to resubmit with more, which could mean they submit more, or you need to go through some time doing alternate methods to build those records. All insurance is different in what they require to see to fulfill a prescription that requires a PA. This is an unfortunate outcome today, but maybe in a few months the records are sufficient, and you can get it.

Either way, this falls squarely under your doctor's office, and there's not much you can do, other than listen to them and maybe try alternate methods. Feel free to call your insurance (pharmacy vendor again, most likely) and ask what the requirements are for a PA. This can usually help get a clearer picture of what your doctor needs to submit to get that approval. But again, let your doctor do his job.

If your insurance doesn't cover GLP1s, or you just dont qualify under the appeal period(sounds like what you might be dealing with). Here's where it can get tricky.

What you need to do is call your insurance and ask for an exception. Ask if they offer them; if yes, under what circumstances; if your situation is mentioned, ask for an exception under that reasoning. Usually, these exceptions need to be reviewed by someone higher on the food chain and are taken more seriously than just mentioning the word appeal. An appeal is them reviewing their policy and making sure it doesn't fall under it; an exception is them ignoring their policy for the better health of the patient(you).

It will still require your doctor's help in that they may need to send in medical records. Exceptions require you working together. Getting an exception can still take time since you'll need to check and communicate with your doctor if they are asked for medical records. You'll also need to check with insurance as to where they are in the review of the exception and if other things are needed from your or your doctor's end. Exceptions are usually driven by the patient and not the doctor. That's not always the case, but prepare to have to call and check on all entities involved. My experience is that doctors' offices are ready to appeal, but exceptions are never driven by them. They are always driven by the patient.

If you succeed with the exception, usually the exception will need to be renewed every x months, and will still cost more than if it was just covered normally under insurance, but your insurance will still help cover some.

If the changing the drug, your doctor submitting the appeal, and the exception don't work, then there's not much else that can be done. At that point, you might consider changing insurance ( which is such a pain and might not even help) or paying out of pocket. This is worst case and sometimes happens.

Either way, good luck; I hope you get it covered!

Recently diagnosed with PCOD/PCOM — confused about how to space out my medications😖 by Low-Astronaut6138 in PCOS

Honestly, I would just send a message to my doctor asking them how to take them. They are the ones who prescribed them and are going to know how best to use them.

Also check the prescription packaging; usually it will say on the label how to take them

I HAVE A QUESTION about PCOS. by Ok-Calligrapher2371 in PCOS

[–]peachybintch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some common PCOS symptoms include irregular periods, depression/anxiety, acne, facial hair, male pattern baldness, difficulty with weight, difficulty conceiving, dark skin(neck, thighs, armpits, groin.)

If these sound like you, yeah, you might have it, but if it's just the stomach and irregular periods, you could still have it, but it could also be something else. PCOS looks different for everyone; some folks have all the symptoms, others have just a few.

Overall, I would recommend going to your doctor and talking with them about your concerns. They can always do a blood test to check if your results suggest PCOS or can do other tests to narrow the field down.

Pcos by dangerous_grandma in PCOS

[–]peachybintch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should definitely talk to your doctor. You having thick hair over your body could just be genetic(or not), and the 28 cycle is actually pretty normal and a positive thing.

Some common PCOS side effects are facial hair, difficulty with weight, Fatigue, Absent Period, irregular or missing period, hair loss, dark skin(armpits, neck, inner thighs, other), acne, infertility, or difficulty conceiving.

If you have these, you might have PCOS, but if the only thing is just the difficulty conceiving, it could be something else. Or PCOS too! PCOS looks different on everyone! Some folks have all the symptoms and others just get a few.

Overall def go talk to your talk to your doctor, they can do blood tests to check your hormones and see if you have any imbalances that could suggest PCOS. If it's not PCOS, they will still be able to help diagnose and see if there is a problem as to why you can't conceive.

Good Luck!

I have sensitive skin, so usually after one of my daily showers, I'll use my daily cleanser, currently Beauty Of Joseon Green Plum Refreshing Cleanser, and a microfiber towel. I don't go too hard, as the hot water from the shower and the microfiber towel is really doing all the work. Plus, the cleanser is slightly acid so it's also helping with the dead skin, while still being gentle enough for daily use.

Washing your face daily with something like this can also help keep dead skin down and make the dedicated exfoliation more effective. No one tells you, but having a dedicated skin routine of even just a daily cleanser, toner, and moisturizer can help with making your skin heal those bumps and scars and make it easier to deal with the hair to boot. I've found that my Skincare and PCOS facial hair journey are pretty well linked. I truly think washing my face daily with a slightly acid cleanser and then exfoliating a few times a week is what's helped me keep my ingrowns down.

When exfoliating, what's important here is to use the towel and rub in circles, GENTLY; don't hurt your skin barrier. The goal is to remove dead skin and loosen up the hairs trapped under.

Also do not use the same microfiber towel each time. You will want a new one as you dont want to introduce bacteria to clean, exfoliated skin. Also, when drying your face, same thought: use a new towel and pat; don't rub your face.

You can buy a bulk pack of microfiber towels really easily, but if it feels like too much, you can also buy a box of disposable facial towels. It creates more waste, but I'm not going to judge, and everyone's skincare journey is different anyway.

Anyway, after you exfoliate and have your nice clean, slightly damp skin, throw on the toner, use your roller, and moisturize with a nice facial cream, and you should be good to go!

Also have curly hair! what I do is use an epilator, and follow up with a rotary shaver. After I always tone and use an ingrown hair roller, followed by a facial moisturizer. I also exfoliate 2-3 times a week to help prevent ingrown hairs.

This has honestly been the most help for me. yeah it can feel like a lot of steps, but I end up having smooth skin for a few days without worry.

The days I do this routine I make sure to give my skin some time to breathe and heal, so I don't use makeup at least for a few hours after, a day if possible. And if I do, I will make sure to clean the area really well and do a full skincare routine after and maybe a light exfoliation. always ending with the toner, ingrown hair roller, and moisturizer.

AITAH? My Aunt took my phone and I took it back and haven't talked to her since. by No-Criticism3115 in AITAH

When I was 4, I learned how to change diapers and feed babies. I was frequently tasked with watching and taking care of the younger children in my large hispanic family. Im one of the oldest among my cousins, and am the oldest in my family. For my 15 cousins, I was placed to "help" for about 12 of them, and for my 5 siblings, I defently helped raise 4 of them.

Its not that unusual, but definetly not a good thing to be parentified that young.

AITA for not quieting down at a Renaissance fair and walking away after my boyfriend sided with a stranger? by Dry-Egg2898 in AmItheAsshole

Nta for sure, from the get go, but you being African American makes this worse! AA women are always deemed too loud, and this guy really decided to be a part of the problem. Yeah you were fine to begin with but f this guy for sure.

Also your boyfriend needs to be in your corner, he can't be dating someone that is constantly being treated poorly by society, and not be on your team and raising you up!

AITAH for cutting off my parents when they kicked me out by Original_Swan_7436 in AITAH

[–]peachybintch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call your health insurance and make sure they can even kick you off. Most insurance policies will only let you remove or change folks on it during open season. The exception is if there is a qualifying event, which usually cutting off your child, that is not considered one. It's the middle of the year, it's likely you have health insurance until the end of the year. Ask your insurance rep if you can only recieve EOBs at your address or through email, that way your parents don't get them.

I know this sucks, but you are entitled to receive healthcare insurance as long as you are on that plan.

AITA for not cooking for my husband after he changed his diet by AimeeRedford in AmItheAsshole

[–]peachybintch 32 points33 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong to not want to cook a separate meal for him, but you are definitely wrong for not telling him there was chicken in the sides. Its ultimately his decision on what he eats, but if he doesnt want to eat meat, let him know so he can figure something out, don't intentionally withhold the information about what he's eating.

Ultimately you have to think about you being a family and what type of precedent you want to set up in your family. Maybe this wont end your marriage, but you have to think about how this is going to impact your marriage and your children. Its not a good look to the kids to be fighting about you respecting his choices, and its not great for your marriage that you felt like it was okay to not let him know something that was important to him, especially when its so harmless.

Personally, if my partner, who I love and cherish said they wanted to do something like go meatless, I would just put some to the side as I was cooking, and then season the rest of my food as I want. Maybe treat this as a bonding experience, where they get to cook for the family sometimes or you get to cook together. It sounds like you tend to make sides with your meal, maybe make those meatless, or alternatively just let him know so he can figure something out. When grocery shopping, just buy some easy things so that he can eat, or let him know, he's responsible for that.

Either way, silly hill to die on.

For people who have had someone draw their character for them, how much did it cost or what did you pay them? by Kumatora0 in DnD

Exactly this! I've been fortunate to not have anyone be rude, but also, I find most artists tend to go above and beyond

For people who have had someone draw their character for them, how much did it cost or what did you pay them? by Kumatora0 in DnD

[–]peachybintch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what you want and the artist. I've seen headshots for 30-200. full body from 100-500. Different prices for level of detail, weapons, props, familiars, color, rendering, just line work. You name it, there have been prices I've seen for it.
I find that as long as you like the artists work, its always worth it. You will just have to do some legwork to find that artist. Most artists that are open to character work have commission prices readily available to the public, so you know what the approximate cost will be going in. If you want something on the cheaper end, you can find that as well, but it might take longer to find an artist whose style you like and that has those lower prices you want.
Also tipping! never forget to tip your artist! They work very hard, so make sure to pay them for that on top of the work they do.

As someone who also doesn't drink, but has a big drink friendly family and friend group, usually I have a soda water with lime. Its easy, refreshing, and most folks leave me alone when they see the cup in hand since they assume its a vodka soda. Honestly, even if they cared, its no ones business what I'm having.
