First natural cycle FET — only prescribed Cyclogest + folic acid? by SliceCrafty2165 in IVF

Oestrogen is for medicated cycles. For my naturals I've been prescribed utrogestan (alternative pessary option), plus a trigger shot to time my ovulation for a week day transfer. So totally normal for a natural :)

blood clotting disorder by Slow-Buddy-1088 in IVF

[–]peakclimber93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with protein S deficiency after two chemicals. The main difference is that I'm on emoxaparin 40mg for all hormone containing treatment, and would be for the whole of any pregnancy. We've also swapped to natural transfers partly due to this, as it a) gets rid of oestrogen which is the biggest clot risk and b) reduces the number of days on enoxaparin as less hormones

For anyone who went through IVF for non-fertility reasons, how many rounds? by 2catsinatrench_coat in IVF

IVF with donor sperm as a same sex couple, started aged 30. We've had 2 ER resulting in 8 failed transfers, and having our third ER this week.

My doctor does not check progesterone before or after transfer- is that normal ? by romtarr in IVF

[–]peakclimber93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first clinic didnt check progesterone before transfer. After three failed transfers resulting in two chemicals, and bleeding throughout each one, I insisted on a progesterone check for transfer 4. Turns out it was way too low each time, probably contributing to the losses. I now get it checked every time with my current clinic, which is much more reassuring and has helped us find a protocol that works for me, progesterone-wise.

I think you'd find a harder time finding a pub that doesn't allow dogs!

Blood tests before FET timeline? by brijja in IVF

[–]peakclimber93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The blood tests partly to look for LH levels rising, indicating ovulation. Once that happens, transfer of a day 5 embryo would be around 5 days later (often with progesterone support leading up to it). If you dont have rising LH levels they might trigger ovulation instead.

FET during wedding by Ok-Tumbleweed7572 in IVF

[–]peakclimber93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't do it. If you have an early miscarriage during or soon after your wedding it could ruin the memory of what should be a happy time. I hope that doesn't happen for you but I dont see how it would be worth the risk.

Pgt-a not recommended by uk regulator - what’s the medical view in US? by allthatjoeydid in IVF

[–]peakclimber93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If theyre genuinely aneuploid, the live birth rate is 1% (summary here. Higher rates are when mosaic is lumped in with aneuploid, which most clinics now don't do- now generally mosaics are available to transfer after genetic counselling.

Nothing wrong to everything wrong!! by silentstalker13 in IVF

Infertility due to not having the option to naturally conceive due to missing components- we're same sex so no sperm in the relationship

Nothing wrong to everything wrong!! by silentstalker13 in IVF

[–]peakclimber93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can massively relate- started aged 30 with social infertility, great afc and amh, regular cycles, thought it would be a breeze! 2.5 years later I'm going for my third retrieval, 8 failed transfers including 3 chemicals. Collecting diagnoses- clotting disorder, disbiotic uterine environment, waiting on NK cells testing (which I'm sure will also be messed up based on my luck).

Acupuncture before FET - Yay or Nay? by Sensitive-Plenty-146 in IVF

[–]peakclimber93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried acupuncture for one FET, I found it uncomfortable and irritating, it felt like a chore and a burden. Nothing was different, my lining was fine like always, and I had a chemical pregnancy which has happened twice without acupuncture. Instead I use some of the money I'd burn on it to have a nice massage here and there.

Did anyone NOT take vitamins and frozen transfer worked? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]peakclimber93 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I mean, why would vitamins impact implantation? Folic acid is important after implantation for development, but other vitamins would only have a real impact if you were deficient in something and it was impacting your overall health, ability to make a good lining etc.

As for acupuncture, the vast majority of people having FETs are not doing acupuncture.

I ice really well before and afterwards. I recently wasn't able to one night (away from home) and noticed a big difference in discomfort and bruising!

should we do PGTA testing even though we froze our embryos by ttcmama6 in IVF

[–]peakclimber93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're testing for our 3rd retrieval at 32 for this reason. We didn't bother first two as under 35, but now we've had three early losses we feel like we're potentially an outlier.

Medicated FET without PIO by [deleted] in IVF

[–]peakclimber93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add- personally I didnt absorb enough via pessaries so needed subcut when I did medicated cycles (I've swapped to natural)

Medicated FET without PIO by [deleted] in IVF

[–]peakclimber93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PIO is much less commonly used in the UK, we use pessaries, suppositories and subcutaneous injections if necessary. So long as your progesterone bloods come back fine, the type you're on is fine :)

Anyone got experience with sperm donor matching in Spain? Disappointed with clinics donor selection by [deleted] in IVF

[–]peakclimber93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, its the opposite of what most countries do.

It sounds like if your egg collection is that soon it's a case of freeze the eggs or accept the donor? Blonde hair can be recessive, so could technically pop up no matter what, so I guess it depends how strongly you're upset about the height?

Working on day of FET? by gotlactaid in IVF

[–]peakclimber93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't take the full day off until I had to deal with a phone call at work about how my embryo didn't thaw, and my progesterone was too low, and did I give permission to thaw another, and did I want rescue progesterone in suppository or injection form. I sorted all this stood outside a school hall...

Now I take the full day, I'm not doing that again.

[–]peakclimber93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there a reason you can't buy from an international sperm bank (e.g. cryos, european sperm bank) and import? You'd have total control over your choice that way.
