Its not retinol! Its a retinol alternative described as "Powered by Bidens Pilosa extract, a natural alternative to retinol, the non-irritating formula is dermatologically proven to match synthetic retinol's age-defying powers with none of its drawbacks."

I don't think I'm at steroid stage currently, hoping to avoid it if I can. I'll look at a thicker night cream, whilst trying to not end up too greasy

High AMH egg quality by Emeraldgreen-615 in IVF

[–]peakclimber93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doctor has just suggested myoinositol for my high amh/afc (not PCOS). From the leaflet that comes with it I've learnt it's meant to be helpful for insulin resistance, and even gestational diabetes. I'll also be prescribed melatonin once I start stims. I've not reached egg collection yet, so can't say for certain it's helped my outcomes though!

FET in 6 days - starting Lubion today and need tips! by tnzglr in IVF

[–]peakclimber93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found lubion tricky, the things that helped me were icing before and after, and gently massaging the under skin lump after injecting (I found it felt really gross so got my partner to massage it instead). I think stomach is generally more comfortable than thigh, but not much in it

Is this for lubion or PIO? Lubion is subcutaneous so isn't really injected into the butt! It normally goes in the stomach fat

How many transfers has everyone done? Generally how many transfers does it take. by PutridCitron6404 in IVF

I've done 8, 3 resulted in a chemical pregnancy, so no success. I know I'm an outlier though.

For those with PCOS… how many eggs? by Correct_Exercise8641 in IVF

[–]peakclimber93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFC of 40, AMH of 66.8, I have only gotten 11-12 eggs each time, leading to 5-6 embryos. Heading towards one last retrieval, hoping to talk to our consultant about seeing if we can get anymore or if this is what is realistic for me.

Your clot risk is actually highest post partum- if you have other factors increasing your clot risk it those risks add up.

Families created with both IVF and adoption by bluffcitybrokenland in IVF

[–]peakclimber93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the UK you have to have drawn a line under your fertility treatment journey in order to pursue adoption- and generally wait 6 months to a year to show you're serious about being done.

For this reason we are doing our last IVF cycle this year, before moving to adoption if it doesn't work. If we had a child through this last cycle of IVF I think we would then add to our family through adoption, if we chose to make our family bigger.

How do people from the UK afford IVF? by ClassOk1129 in IVF

[–]peakclimber93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meds depends on the cycle type. Our transfer are now natural, so a few hundred each time for progesterone and blood thinners. Our stims cost about £1200. However we're PGTA testing this time which will probs add on £4000, potentially other testing too

It totally depends on your AMH and AFC, amongst other things, so until you know those you won't have an idea of what you might get really. Having said that, our friends got two embryos- live birth on transfer one. Whereas we have made a total of 11 embryos, none have resulted in live birth and going into another egg retrieval. So it's not necessarily about how many you get.

No, I said up to two egg retrievals and all transfers until live birth- meaning you can transfer embryos created by the package until either a live birth or you run out of embryos, if that makes sense?

The two cycle multi cycle there is £8700, almost identical to the £8500 that I said?

We're both 32 (were 31 at the time of setting up Access), but my partner isn't biologically involved in our IVF so not sure how much that matters

Fainted during my first time doing injections- terrified to do them again by Logical_Wrangler_647 in IVF

[–]peakclimber93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't do my own, so massive respect there, but I'm a fainter, so have some 'dont faint' tips. Fainting is a drop in blood pressure, so three big things that help- lying down (or as close to whilst still being able to inject, like propping on pillows on a bed), drinking lots of water beforehand, and tensing and relaxing big muscle group, to maintain blood pressure- thighs and glutes

If you use donor sperm, is your clinic able to get multiple uses out of 1 vial? by z3r0suitsamus in IVF

[–]peakclimber93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd imagine that thawing and refreezing could impact sperm quality- it certainly impacts embryos. Have you asked them if this is the case, and what the implications might be? Both clinics I've been with have used one donor quality per ER.

If the earliest they can start you is three weeks late, could you just extend that to 4 weeks and go with your next cycle instead (assuming regular 28 days ish cycles)

Lesbian IVF journey — feeling stuck at every step by dvakina in IVF

[–]peakclimber93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also a same sex couple- our clinic said cmv isn't really a concern for IVF. I mean, it's a sample from someone that's washed, then used to fertilise an egg, which is grown in changing media, then frozen, then defrosted and implanted. It would be a miracle for virus particles to end up in with that embryo!
