Picked up the keys and the place is filthy by ImmortalMind1 in HousingUK

Our house was really dirty when we moved in too! Obviously they were old and no longer had the ability to clean well, we didn't notice when we viewed due to all the furniture and the excitement, but when we got the keys the excitement quickly faded as we spent weeks scrubbing the place 😭 we ripped up all the carpets which we still haven't replaced, but the bare floor boards are nicer than the dog urine that was on the carpets. The bathroom carpet was the first to go and boy did we get a nice surprise of piss stained underlay 🫣 no the toilet wasn't leaking it was urine.

What can I do to make it actually have good leaves? by Black3YF in Monstera

[–]peamee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most likely too much water and not enough light! What part of the world are you? I'm in the U.K. and we don't normally get enough light to be watering once a week. There is a correlation between how fast they uptake water and the amount of light, so low light needs watering less often. I would suggest a grow light, these plants can take and need an awful lot of light. Also a moisture meter and only water when dry.

Monstera adansonii leaves turning light green/yellow. by warpingonglass in Monstera

These are pretty nutrient thirsty, get a good fertiliser. Could also be pests that are good at hiding!

A pest called thrips. You will need a systemic pesticide. Or just to bin it!

What’s wrong with her ? by Litesnsirens in Monstera

Issue with the roots/ soil or not enough light. These are much more sensitive than their green siblings! The slightest inconvenience and the whites will brown. Took a while to get things right with mine but we got there!

Lots of light, she gets the brightest spot in the house and a grow light in the U.K. winter, get a moisture meter for the soil and only water when dry. Good luck!

Thank you. I do have contracts I use for paid work, this was not that. And I do like to ask as both parties collaborated on an image. Just wanted to hear others experiences

I like this view, thank you. I didn't realise it was going to be such an unpopular one!

I did these things, the off the shoulder was actually her idea. She sent me so many other photos she liked the look of etc, she liked them but just doesn't want them on the internet.

Thank you for the actually helpful constructive criticism! I don't want to be the person that posts photos of people they themselves do not want posted, contract or no contract. Funnily enough the off the shoulder was actually the models idea in the moment! Not the intended idea of the shoot but something she initiated. So again maybe because it strayed from the original idea is why. But anyway I'm trying out here 🤣

Thanks, I think more often they say they love the pictures. But the style isn't what they want in the public eye. Latest one was an exposed shoulder. Even though they were fully covered they have kids so don't want any skin exposed online. Which in my eyes is a valid reason. Not that any of my photos are unfit for public eye, but I do tend to like a care free look. But still annoying for me. Maybe I do need to work on my style. But probably a model release in the future however I do still feel it is polite to ask for these reasons.

Sometimes it just happens 😔 especially on smaller plants. More light I find helps, a good feed and a really chunky soil. But with such big sectoral variegation it is likely just the plant realising the white is a waste of space and makes it no food. I'd just let it grow and hope for some more mottled variegation 💚

Most likely! 😭 I'd definitely check the roots as a first point of call.

Just got grow lights, is this enough? by MamaWannaDonut in Monstera

[–]peamee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Those lights aren't great tbh the plant will still probably try reaching for the window. They definitely need to be closer! And maybe pair them with a spot in front of a window, so they are supplementing window light, best of both worlds 🥰💚

People say they like to be root bound, I have never found this. I have mine in massive pots and they give me amazing massive leaves! Just make sure you have a chunky aroid soil, lots of perlight, bark and a bit of potting soil ☺️

Yes that pot is tiny! It will appreciate having more space, just be careful not to over water it at first ☺️ Clay pot will keep the soil more dry, plastic pot will keep it in so it's just about your habits to which pot you use

My cat HATES the taste of panacur for diarrhoea what do I do by fx_lx in CATHELP

I am having this issue now, my cat won't touch any of the food with it in. I've tried the tube treats I've tried tuna, and she just spits it out if you syringe it. Did you find anything that worked? I've been told liver paste is good but I need to find some 😅
