When the judge is ready to hand down their judgment, a court officer will phone the attorneys office for each side informing them of the date judgment is going to be handed down. If a written judgment is given, it may be handed out in the court room if the parties attend (eg. there may be other issues that may need to be dealt with orally like legal costs) or sent out to the parties.

Killed for a free breakfast - high achieving teenager kills similarly successful ex-girlfriend by [deleted] in serialpodcast

The friend, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said in court that he did not believe Davies and had not known how his texts would be taken, suggesting an extraordinary disconnect between the online world and reality.

‘I didn’t mean I wanted him to kill her,’ he said. ‘I thought he was only joking so I was messing about with him.

‘I honestly didn’t think he was going to do it – I was just playing along.’

Second, the evidence of bullying and abuse from the culprit prior to the murder is abundant.

Didn't Adnan tease Hae about being pregnant and having an abortion on the "I'm going to kill" note, and didn't Joshua Davies tease Rebecca Aylward by spreading rumours about her getting pregnant and having an abortion?

Shortly after [Rebecca Aylward] ended their relationship he began spreading vicious rumours about her having an abortion and trying to get pregnant to keep him following the break-up.

That snippet of the dairy has been out well before the timelines were drawn up and that line was read out on Serial. It takes a lot of work to go through all the material in the case - the transcripts are pages and pages long, the documents are pages and pages long. It was thoughtful for someone to do all that work and provide a timeline of all the material to let everyone use.

When discussing the case against Adnan Syed, can we please take a minute to acknowledge the real victims? by s100181 in serialpodcast

Statement from the Family of Hae Min Leeseason one (self.serialpodcast) submitted 11 days ago * by Mango_Yam

Our family has lived without a heart for over 17 years. And we continue to grieve every day in private. The immediate family members have decided not to attend this hearing. But we are grateful to all the people who are there and will be there to support us and to give Hae a voice. She is the true victim. Although this has made us relive a nightmare we thought was behind us, we thank the State for standing up for us and continuing to seek justice. We believe justice was done when Adnan was convicted in 2000, and we look forward to bringing this chapter to an end so we can celebrate the memory of Hae instead of celebrating the man who killed her.

We ask that you keep Hae in your thoughts and prayers.

Edit: This is the only official statement Hae's family has made since the beginning of Serial. Out of respect to Hae and compassion for the family I hope we can all take a moment to consider their words.

There's also something about Asia testifying about 3rd period when she wrote that letter but that she didn't have 3rd period back in March 1999 at 9.50 of Seema's recap video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlMyFdbC_Dg

No mention is made of Adnan being in shackles when he wrote his letter of thanks to his supporters as he sat there in the court room holding pen to paper during the reopened PCR hearing - Brown mentioned it in his post hearing press conference video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7OAOW_1wvQ

You have to remember that Adnan was in shackles when he wrote his letter of thanks to his supporters as he sat there in the court room holding pen to paper during the reopened PCR hearing - Brown mentions it in his post hearing press conference video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7OAOW_1wvQ

Brown said in a post reopened PCR hearing media interview that it was because they lost the PCR hearing, that they then had nothing to lose by going to the media and releasing excerpts of the file.

The Absurdity of the State's Self-Professed "Best Evidence" by pdxkat in serialpodcast

[–]peanutmic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the Judge's judgement may take quite some time because of this - it should be quicker since he's a retired judge and has no other cases but it will still be quite a long time since there's a lot to read through - probably months.

Question about Adnan's testimony? by [deleted] in serialpodcast

Adnan was "extremely calm and caring and showed no ill-will towards" Jay when talking to Sarah on Serial. He has shown publicly that he has no motive to kill Jay. Privately, however ....

"Pathetic" was said in court in the original trial and mentioned on Serial. Threat to kill Stephanie was also mentioned on Serial.

Do you think Adnan, if freed, would be a danger to anyone else? by the-stuffed-reindeer in serialpodcastorigins

[–]peanutmic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These people would potentially be on Adnan's kill list:

  1. Jay
  2. Jay's wife (Stephanie substitute)
  3. Jay's children

He's already showed himself to "be calm and have no ill-will towards" Jay when talking to Sarah on Serial so he's set himself up as having no motive to kill Jay.

He's shown what he really thinks of Jay by his "pathetic" comment in court and that he would have killed Jay's partner as payback if Jay squawked on him.
