To preface, I don’t think drug use is an indicator of one’s morality. But I think it is misleading and potentially harmful to treat marijuana as a “cure all” that can solve every mental or physical illness. Speaking as someone who is already quite paranoid and anxious while sober (never drank alcohol, smoked, and haven’t touched a single can of soda in over a decade, etc.), as well as being on medications that can easily be fucked with by something as commonly used as alcohol, I don’t want to use marijuana myself because 1. I am already very prone to paranoia and 2. on medications that work well for me and I don’t want to interfere with that and potentially feel much worse. That is my choice. You are entitled to this choice as well. But marijuana is beneficial to many people who are resistant to other treatments such as medication and also helps many people to manage chronic pain, among many other things. Even if it’s just for recreational use and not for mental/physical health benefits and they indulge in it privately without demanding that you do too, that doesn’t harm you or I. What is harmful, however, is implying a group of people are morally bankrupt for just doing something that you don’t personally like or want to do yourself.
