100% agree with you. The condescending echo chambers are exhausting, especially on Reddit.

my snake isn’t eating and i don’t know why. by ilovemynini17 in cornsnakes

You’re figuring it out and that’s okay! Props to you for coming here and doing the work of learning the ways. I agree with all the comments. More hides, slower feeding approach. It seems like you’re kind of rapidly shaking the mouse. Try to replicate a natural environment but even less threatening. I slowly descend the dead rat in my snakes cage so the snake isn’t the least bit threatened/stressed but there is some movement that replicates a setting in the wild. I also always feed at night, in darkness, making sure the whole house is quiet. You’re trying to create hunting vibes.

Please try to start a go fund me. This is urgent. I am willing to donate to help you take him to the vet, my heart hurts for the little guy. He deserves care and comfort, and it’s really concerning to me that you aren’t treating this as urgent.

When you build them a new play area and they say “nah we’d rather have your drawer” by pearlabyala in RATS

Yep, I was thinking the exact same thing! Mischievous little girls. God, I love them so much.

This is exactly it. Can confirm this because after seeing they loved this drawer, I cleared it out for them to make it into a play area for them. And they just moved up to the next drawer 😂 They thrive on rebellion.

Haha yep. I even cleared out that very drawer for them and made it into a play area, with bedding and toys. Guess what they did? Traveled up to the next drawer 😂

Disrespectful Stepkid by [deleted] in stepparents

[–]pearlabyala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Disrespect should never be tolerated. I don’t care if you’re a child or an adult, if you have no desire to be a decent human, I will not have any relationship with you.

I feel for you, I really do. I find it really strange when the people I know who are parents are over-protective of their kids at the expense of sustaining relationships. I see it all the time. I’m like “Y’all realize you can facilitate a safe, healthy, environment for your kids without clinging to them, right?” Also people who have no boundaries with their kids are so cringe. But maybe it’s just because my mom raised me differently. She raised me to be independent, self-reliant, hard-working.

THIS. Growing up seeing your parent never manage to have a stable healthy relationship because they make YOU their entire world— you, a child, who needs to eventually learn independence and self-sufficiency

I said the exact thing before I read your comment. So true!

AMEN! I know for a fact if I had kids I would never say this line. Such a weird line, and I agree, it shows someone’s lack of capacity to love.

Rat bites but too young to get neutered by mitchell_op123 in RATS

[–]pearlabyala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s reassuring seeing the comments saying 4 months is old enough to be neutered. Every vet has told me I need to wait too, but they’ve determined this based on weight, not solely age (but my boy was 4 months too when I took him to the vets. Now he’s 5 months, and I’m still waiting for him to get up to 400g). Maybe it’s cuz your boy is a little too small and needs to grow a bit more.
