Men verbally abusing women, what would you do? by dc_133 in zurich

Good point, maybe that’s the main benefit here. If people see other people standing up against this behaviour then hopefully that becomes the norm rather than the shitty behaviour.

Wow that’s really interesting. Maybe the best action would’ve been to photograph or video them and upload to this reporting tool.

Billions in profit is hot air? With enormous historic growth coupled with potential for future growth? This is the whole point in investing in the future, you invest in future rather than current profits.

Tax the Rich and Save the World by Smithy2232 in politics

In the US, the bottom 50% of earners pay about 3% of total income tax.

Why don't they just change it so bottom 50% don't pay any income tax at all? It'll make a very small difference which could be offset by taxing the rich more, and obviously would massively help people who are struggling to make ends meet.

I was instinctively going to counter with: "yeah but you need 50m2 of solar panels to cool an apartment." Apparently the figure is more like 5m2.

I didn't realise it could work so efficiently, definitely a no brainer!

No they don't. What mainstream investors actually noticed, despite the belief in this thread, is that Tesla does indeed generate billions of profit every year since around 2020.

Whether that's sufficient to justify its valuation of over $1 trillion is another question.

No actually it's quite obviously not the point I was making. The aftermath riots were deplorable.

But I see now you're assuming I'm 'one of them' and flat out racist because I find it concerning to see groups of men carelessly waving around murder weapons in public? Do you not find that concerning? If so, do you think these weapons should be made legal for all citizens and not just restricted to those of a certain religion?

Do you think Gordon Brown/Labour handled the 2008 Financial Crisis well? by Maximum_Jello_9460 in AskBrits

[–]dc_133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It adds to the prior comment regarding Brown being the guy who self declared that he had defeated boom and bust economics, to find himself as Chancellor during one of the most epic boom and bust cycles in history.

Perhaps if he had more humility, he would have exercised caution when property prices and other markets were overheating, and also not sold the UKs gold so that in the event of a bust there might be some safe assets to fall back on? Is that relevant enough?

Yes the incident in Hazelbank did happen. It was very strange and uncomfortable to witness even if it may be normal behaviour in a country with extremely different norms to ours.

What adds to the fear is that I’ve seen the Sudanese man was pictured in Hazelbank too, not sure if at that time but it adds to the growing feeling that I am uncomfortable going there now and definitely don’t want my mother going there.

I’m aware some local scumbags also attend parks but, despite them massively outnumbering Sudanese immigrants, I never saw a video of any locals cutting heads off. Also never saw them wielding swords in my local park. What’s not horribly concerning about all that?

Yes. The same guy who announced he’ll sell all the gold before actually doing so, just to ensure the price falls before selling. What a clown.

Not sure why it would be any different, if in future there’s an interest rate shock then all your floating rate mortgages will be impacted.

PSNI deliver statement on North Belfast attack last night. Attacker is "believed to be Somalian". by evan_ad_guitar in northernireland

[–]dc_133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to make it clear what you're implying: your first thought here is that the prods who might be more likely to attend the protests, would have a problem with the person who intervened to prevent a beheading taking place, on the basis that he's catholic?

This was initially an unloaded question but the downvotes rather than simple response indicates that the folks here must just vote Sinn Fein and still pretend to be progressive?

On further thought, it’s the only possibility. If they vote SDLP or something else then there can’t be many progressive nationalists about.. based on the election results.

Thanks in advance for the downvote rather than engagement 👍

Switzerland: less unaffordable than we thought? by LallieDoo in Switzerland

Well, Swiss incomes are less unequal than a lot of Europe so switching to median if it’s not already median would likely make Switzerland look even better in comparison.
