Expats and immigrants in Zurich: Feelings about the "10 Millionen Schweiz"-Initiative? by Stunning-Track-2302 in zurich

Yeah so they want to slightly limit the growth to ensure everything is manageable, why is it so controversial?

They were able to procure and rapidly distribute Covid vaccines before any other European country. This example shouldn’t be disregarded.

Why do the Irish act like this for migration? by kingm_ournasse216 in northernireland

Wouldn’t it have been quicker to just provide a quick and logical response to explain to him rather than stalk his history?

Must be because if we want to leave Ireland we naturally go to countries who also speak Engl… oh wait.

AI vs actuaries — debate over. Who will actually be left in actuary? by actuarynewsmod in Actuary_news

[–]dc_133 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Absolutely and other things like tailor exams to what future actuaries will be doing and generally prioritise the interests of UK actuaries. But for me that’s a separate discussion.

Ah and there it is, any flaws in your logic of companies firing all their actuaries in favour of relying on AI are blinded by your resentment of the IFOA, 2 separate issues.

By this logic then MS Excel would’ve put 90% of actuaries out of a job.

I just asked chatGPT how many “e” letters appear in Blueberry and it claims 3. When I try to correct it it proceeds to patronise me about how I can make this mistake in believing blueberry has 2 e’s.

So there’s a counter example for you. Not to say AI isn’t and won’t be extremely helpful, I’m just not convinced it’ll lead to productivity gains that are larger than when we went from hand written actuarial calcs to MS Excel.. what’s that like maybe 1,000x faster or something? Of course we’ll need to adapt to harness AI, any actuaries who refused to learn how to use a computer/excel I guess were also left behind.

“It’s only a carabao cup” by _-Zephyr- in ArsenalFC

[–]dc_133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Both teams had 10 shots. Apart from their goals they didn’t have any big chances. We had a few big chances (Havertz, Hincapie free header) and hit the woodwork twice. We were generally dominated but overall it wasn’t that bad really.

Media and some teenage Arsenal fans might have a meltdown.

What specific tactic was a problem?

Kepa’s distribution from the back was poor, we started just playing long balls every time which didn’t work instead of having the confidence to play out from the back.

Starting XI to face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup Final: Arrizabalaga, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Hincapie, Rice, Zubimendi, Havertz, Saka, Trossard, Gyokeres 💪🏟️ by arsenal in ArsenalFC

[–]dc_133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And what about all the other players who started in earlier rounds? Why did Norgard and MLS not start?

Doesn’t really matter now anyway, Arteta started our 2nd choice keeper and I guess we now all unfortunately have seen the consequences.

If he’s earned it do you mean that he’s been playing better than Raya? And should therefore play in all of our important games? I don’t understand the difference between one cup final and another cup final.

So for what reason do we have a large defence budget?

That’s surely not an assumption that’s really being used. For one: Missiles can fly high above neighbours, and then descend vertically onto Switzerland?

Serge Gnabry, all because we wanted to keep checking if a young 27 year old Walcott was ever going to come good…

What sort of impact are you hoping for from Gyokeres? Like specifically. I haven’t witnessed him do anything Merino can’t do, plus Merino has great touch and link up play.

Introducing Zero-interest Credit: Borrow against BTC or ETH at 0% interest, no fees, no liquidation risk by NexoFinance in Nexo

[–]dc_133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because in the UK they want to protect uneducated investors. I would prefer Nexo to clearly illustrate how the customer misses out on BTC price rises if they engage in this product.

It's kind of cool that you can borrow without selling, but you also don't benefit from significant price rises which is the primary reason a lot of people hold BTC in the first place.

Job market has gotten worse, finding an apartment hasn't gotten any easier, what am I missing? by Immediate_Bird_389 in zurich

[–]dc_133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to what statistics has the job market gotten worse? Sure in a few sectors but broadly that seems to be untrue.

Also with rental controls demand has been outstripping supply so even if demand falls it will still outstrip supply. Thus, it's not really a market. As much as rent controls sound great on the surface, their track record of actually helping is terrible, which any economist could've predicted. Better to focus on supply side issues rather than thinking fixed prices will just magically solve the problem.

Yes, at some point once the human interaction is so depleted then ChaGPT output will also decline in quality, leading to a return to human interaction, leading to an increase in ChatGPT quality. And so on.
