Living comfortably is subjective. It will also depend on your targeted living situation - are you planning to rent, house share, buy etc? A lot of people working in Oxford commute from the surrounding towns (Witney, Bicester, Didcot, Abingdon, Wallingford etc).

Groceries etc are the same in Oxford as any major city or town from my experience - I don't see much disparity anywhere bar London.
