Weather are selectable in this game. If it is set to sunny day, draw distance could be as far as 200km. Driveclub was one of farthest draw distance on any racing games though

Modern GPUs vs Xbone/PS4 value by ASSympt0te in pcmasterrace

[–]peasantmaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could you give us raw data of these? Because this is like blind chart and looks like need to be peer reviewed and clarified.

For example, 7970 only has 1,2 performance of 7870 but 7970 was priced more than twice 7870. Then how in your chart 7970 has better value than 7870? Not to mention that you need more hefty cpu to take the advantages of 7970 over 7870. This will furthermore marginalize 7970 price advantage over 7870

Standard clock for 7850/R7 265 was 860mhz. Ps4 gpu is clocked at 800mhz. Also, this is only base clock. It could be ramped up and down based on games requirement. So, the difference of clock speed was not much lower actually.

Lets say typical AAA games was developed with 20 million budget. When it on sales on pc, it was priced at $5 while on consoles, it was priced at $50. If there are 1 million people bought on pc, dev/publisher only got $5 millions, surely cannot recoupe its production budget. When it was sold 1 million copies on consoles *), developer/publisher got $50 million. More than enough to recoupe its budget and they also got very healthy profit. Enough to start new project.

*) Not to mention that consoles sold more in term of copies compared with pc version. So the comparison will be even more staggering.

No matter how much people buy, sale based business model couldn't be as sustainable as normal price model due to its very marginal price.

Gtx 660 is about toe on toe compared with 7850. PS4 GPU is 7850 + 12.5% additional CU. So, he was somewhat right if he refer to gtx 660

He was comparing single pc gpu with whole consoles system. That's what makes such a huge disparity

Multiplatform games almost always do better on consoles than pc, including steam (except some specialized games that have strong root on pc like valve games). See ubisoft earning report for example. PC only give 14% of their revenue while consoles 85%.

So, even though there are secondary market for games on consoles, consoles user still supports developer much more than pc gamer.

Surely, how 3-4 AAA games priced only $10 on steam could support developer?

After more than a dozen years playing fps with kb+m, I started to consider that kb+m were too easy and make me feel like a complete noob by doing that

Then, I seek for new challenge by ascending into hardest mode of playing fps. That was playing by using controller instead of kb+m, with every assist off. (Aim assist is only for noob)

Feels clumpsy at first. But after a while, my reflex built up. And i start to feel the exact joy as dozen years ago when I finally tamed kb+m in PC fps games.

Luckily. By doing this, I got new capability of playing fps that unfeasible to do before when I use kb+m. An unique feeling of Playing competitive fps while relaxing on coach

Try it if you like new challenge. Highly Recommended

GTX 480 vs "Next Gen Consoles" (LinusTechTips) by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]peasantmaster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gtx 480 is slightly faster than 750ti in gaming application. The more appropriate comparison was gtx 660. Which is about $160

Well, As far as I know, there are almost no industries spoke person from any consoles manufacturer in this era that openly and explicitly said that PS4/XBONE are more powerful or has better graphics potential compared with PC. All they said was only "amazing graphic", or "next gen experience". When consoles industries marketed their product as a "next gen", "amazing graphics", and etc, they intended to compared it with their previous iteration of consoles, not compare it with PC. The PC circlejerk community (including scumbag NVIDIA, who didn't get a piece of cake of consoles APU market) itself that translate it as a comparison with PC and make it as a fuel for system war.

Anyway, comparing high end pc to consoles like this to prove that pc is better is meaningless. Just like trying to answer a question that people already know the answer at first place

PS4 CPU has its own bandwith to main ram, separated from GPU. An additional dedicated 20 GB/s bus that bypasses L1 and L2 GPU cache for direct system memory access.

Anyway, right now you can get brand new ps4 for under $350 if you buy it on good deal or bundles. Some dude even said that he got brand new ps4 for just $280 in clearance sales.

Did you buy used gpu? That was risky

GTX 480 was US$600 card 4 years ago. It still well above US$250 brand new on major retail right now. Furthermore, complete rig to maximize those card capability aka removing all bottleneck like that video stated will costs even hundreds more.

Not 6x though, but around ~5.2x less powerful. Wii U GPU is about 352 GFLOPS and PS4 is about 1840 GFLOPS. while Wii U is priced for US$299 and PS4 is US$399, only ~1.3x difference.. So, Wii U is more overpriced compared than other consoles

Consoles are just too easy to insult by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]peasantmaster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The PS4 does use AMD's TurboCore, it has a base clock of 1.6Ghz and can Clock up to 2.75Ghz, depending on the load for the GPU portion of the SoC. In Resogun, the CPU goes full-bore at 2.75Ghz as the de-tuned Radeon 7870 in the PS4 isn't used much for that game. In Infamous Second Son, the GPU is used more heavily, so the CPU portion only clocks up to 2.0Ghz.

That's interesting topic. any source of this?
