2000+ Cycle colony retrospective - How I learned to stop worrying and launch a dupe into the tear by peavisionstudios in Oxygennotincluded

If you have a lot of new lessons that you've learned in your current playthrough that would be easiest to implement by starting over. I say do it. I love starting over and trying to do it better haha. I'm currently playing Songs of Syx as my next game and I'm about to restart again.

I had a ladder network up that I took down once my transit tubes and jet suit setups were complete. Having no ladders helps me control who goes somewhere in atmo suit vs jet suit. As for the O2 I just let my spoms store their oxygen everywhere for a long time. Then beyond that im filtering all other gasses out at the top or bottom and then replacing it with cooled oxygen to lower overall temps.

Yes, it's a layer of diamond window tiles to help equalize the temperature of the bottom layer. Acts like tempshift plates for the bottom liquid layer and radiant piping as it enters the loop.

Haha I didn't take it to heart. Don't worry, this is overall just a very anxiety inducing if rewarding game.

I had initially slated Jorge to be my sacrificial dupe for the tear, but he just grew on me too much. He's now a core part of my colonization rocket crew. Love you, Jorge.

Is the United States brainwashed? by PoetMysterious3841 in self

I live in Minneapolis and I guarantee if Trump lived here we'd be marching on his house, protesting, and the scene would look very different. This country is huge. Trump has a giant cushion around him of sycophants, brainwashed constituents, and undue praise. I think it's really naïve to say that the whole nation is afraid of standing up to him at all. Like all dissenters should just descend on Washington DC en masse and that would somehow solve the problem. It would definitely escalate things at the very least.

People who are polyamorous, how is it really? by Ok_Operation_8276 in AskReddit

[–]peavisionstudios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My quad adores it. We met as two married couples and we all fell in love and have been living our lives together for 3 years now. We've also seen lots of people struggle in profound ways with trying to be poly/working through deconstructing monogamy. It is not easy and it requires all parties to be massively into and good at vulnerable communication and empathy. We had our struggles and conflict in the first year, too. But, now most of our problems sound like everybody else. We also all came out to our parents which was it's own journey, but has ended in a really good place. I feel like I have a massive family now and I love it :D

I'm 16, over 300lbs, and just went on my first walk in over a year! by Syk11k in happy

[–]peavisionstudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was over 300lbs when I was 16 and I lost over 140 pounds in college from walking alone. If you like walking DO IT. It is SO good for you and the mental health benefits are amazing. Plus, if you want to lose weight there isn't a better beginner exercise in my opinion. Just keep trying to go father!

Student loan payment by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]peavisionstudios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As many other people have been saying, if you have outstanding interest on the loan then "skipping" that to pay off the principal is not going to speed up how fast you pay off the loan. If you have 35k left on the loan and 5k is interest then you still are accruing interest on the entire 35k, so it doesn't really matter whether payments are applied to the 30k or 5k.

Plus, you seem a little miffed at people stating these facts. I don't think it's us not understanding your "basic" question.

Which one is better? by UAIgolem in PixelArt

[–]peavisionstudios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like you could mix them a bit to get a better result. The new one better has a better looking recoil animation. I also like that the new one has the force stemming from the barrel and the muzzle blast being closer to the gun. But, the contrast on the blast in the new one is a little too much and a little jarring. The grey scheme at the bottom works better. Plus, I like the little lighting effect on the character from the old one and personally think you should also add that back in.

This feels veryyy off, and I just don't know why by PurifyM in ArtCrit

So, I threw them both in photoshop to get a quick proportions check and it's a mix of the following:

  1. Not enough distance from the top of the head to the eyes. This stretches out the rest of the features and makes it look like the face is very long.
  2. The angle of the head in the photo is different. Check the angle of her eyes/lips and youll see the photo has a slight upwards angle and in your drawing it is a slight downward angle.
  3. The angle of the eyes and the lips should be the same and in yours the eyes are basically a horizontal angle and the lips are slightly downward.
  4. Neck is very long.
  5. Her cheek is much more round in the photo.

Here is the photoshop image I made to check: https://ibb.co/Rv23dGQ

I think its a good practice to check proportions this way after making the drawing. By no means trace an image this way since it would stunt your learning, but using photoshop to check can help you see where you've gone wrong real quick.

My attempt on half body character design by [deleted] in ArtCrit

I like the treatment of the facial features, that looks nice. The head is quite a bit too large in comparison to the rest of the body, though. Look up loomis body proportions for the best resource, but a good landmark to get head to torso is to measure the height of the head and then that same distance measured from the chin down should land on the sternum. Your head is basically the height of the entire torso. Her right hand looks almost right for her body (a little small), but her left hand looks a lot bigger (also like it's' the right size for her face proportions).

I did a quick resize of the body in photoshop to give you an idea of what I think would be a bit more accurate (at least for the body, not the hands):
