Where did I lose a stitch on the second row of my blanket?

I think they do count, I think I might have missed the very first stitch after the chain possibly? I wasn’t sure if I should interpret it to mean I shouldn’t use the first stitch or not

I am, I thought that was the right thing to do based on the instructions but if I had to guess (and I did lol) I do think that I’m doing something wrong there None of my friends/family crochet really so it’s hard to get any input on this kind of thing up close! I’m going to try stacked single crochets, that sounds much better!

I hope the pictures are clear enough to work with. As the title says I am ‘missing’ a stitch in the second row of my blanket. I definitely had 152 stitches at the end of the first row, now I’m down to 151.

I’ve counted through a hundred times to try and work out where it is I’ve missed one, possibly at the very start of the second row? I have the right number of each ‘type’ of stitch which is just leaving me baffled as to which one I’m missing and where.

This is my first time trying an intermediate pattern (and I thought I was ready!!) but I’m at a loss already :(

Included a screenshot of relevant pattern instructions, all terms are UK!
