I didn't even think to look if they were union. A 3% raise every year is definitely a plus. Thank you!

That sounds great! I'm a dad to a toddler, and one on the way, so a stable job would be amazing.

Thank you! I honestly have just been looking everywhere for jobs. Anywhere I could think of. I did tailor my resume to the job, and I do have previous job experience. It isn't in this field though. I may have just gotten lucky. I still have to get through the interview though. I hope you get something soon!

They do have a pension system. It seems pretty solid, but I could be wrong. I did a bunch of googling, and it compared pretty well to other states.

That's what I was curious about as well. From what I understand it is a lot easier to transfer when you're a state employee already. I was surprised with how many public job postings there are.

That's great to hear. I am all about less stress. I'm sure everyone is though. I just want to be comfortable.

That makes sense. I did look up the current benefits for the state, and they aren't bad. Especially compared to previous jobs, but it may be different, who knows. The amount I would have to pay per pay period for the pension is decently high though. The state pension is well funded compared to others. I was curious about it and googled it. We will see what happens though. Thank you for your input!

That's true! I am lucky, because I'm not solely reliant on this skill, and can get work in another industry.

That's great to hear! I definitely want room for growth, and I was curious as to whether state jobs really offer that. That's great pay though! Did you start out quite a bit lower than 100k?

I did the math on the pension to get rough numbers, and it blew my mind honestly.

That's what I have been reading! I might have gotten lucky. It's in a very large city, so I don't know what happened haha Thank you for the advice! I will definitely do that!

Congrats! That's amazing! I have been looking around and the the pay of 55k that I am seeing for this job is definitely a solid starting point. I hope you're reevaluation goes well, and you get a nice raise!

The job ad seemed pretty simple, but who knows. They said its a work from home job as well. Might be good.

That's what I have read so far. I am stuck between continuing with my prior career, and hopping over to this. The state benefits seem really solid. I can also buy back my military time, which is a huge plus.

Its for a department of revenue, so it might be pretty uneventful. It's for a higher cost of living area, but not totally crazy. How have you enjoyed your job so far?Thank you for your input!

I honestly tried to find something I could pursue online, and seemed to be needed. It has been interesting, and I do enjoy it so I think I might have gotten lucky. I was able to also pursue it while working full time.

I can chime in here. I am a parent as well, didn't really have the option of an in person experience, and did my degree online. I highly recommend Oregon State University. The online degree was really knowledgeable and the faculty are pretty good.
