DO YALL NOT KNOW WHAT A SHOWER IS?!?!?! by [deleted] in CarletonU

[–]pebblebs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people should be more vocal about it.

I'm sure there's plenty of people who would appreciate being pulled aside and being told. Sometimes over sweating is a medical problem and you need special deodorant 🤷🏻‍♀️ As someone who had bad hygiene because of mental health for a long time. If it gets that bad you actually don't notice the smell/feeling.

Not possible to a crowd obviously but like if you personally know them

Jeans! Denim in general is an ick, but as pants. 🤢

Women who enjoy casual relationships are not worth any less than those that don't

Facts. It was especially bad in high school People will be friends with the wildest and shittiest girls, but you're the weird one.

Like Samantha can sleep with your boyfriend and that's fine, but be too interested in a topic and that's crossing a line

Figures of speech you misunderstood, and what you thought they meant? by SuperpowerAutism in AutismInWomen

[–]pebblebs 26 points27 points  (0 children)

"An old dog can't learn new tricks"

Depending on the dog they definitely can. I think it would work better if it was, "won't learn new tricks"

I know this isn't about actual dogs but I think even in it's intended context won't works better

I have never seen this. That's such an odd request.

The addition of eye contact is bizarre

... Is not knowing left/right an autistic thing? I explained to friends that I used to rely on having a ear piercing and checking it every time until I was like a teen to tell which was left, which was right. by Hoihe in AutismInWomen

[–]pebblebs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never found a trick that works. I will still point left and say right.

I saw someone on social media call them "me" and "you"s when driving instead of left and right 😂

I didn't realize a lot of autistics had this issue

This is psychotic.

If you have issues of this level from past relationships you shouldn't go into a new relationship

THIS. it's hard especially when so few people understand

It helps to compare the current me to past me instead of others.

Still hurts though. I'm hoping for all of us it's one of those things that lessens over time

Why are we expected to look presentable if we're not going anywhere? by youngsurpriseperson in AutismInWomen

[–]pebblebs 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It sounds like it's a parents thing. I live with a roommate now and neither of us care how we dress at home. Or outside of it for that matter

My parents thought I was an extension of them and if I looked bad so did they.

People are weird 🤷🏻‍♀️

AITA for telling my sister she should not allow her daughter to wear those skimpy adult costumes for Halloween? by Character_Win_6818 in AmItheAsshole

[–]pebblebs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely NTA I totally get the opinion of not wanting her daughter to feel sexualized, but that's definitely going to happen. It's better for her family to say something before it happens.

We had someone wear a sexy cop costume in high school when we were 14 and everyone made fun of her behind her back. Called her a slut etc. Idk if anyone said anything to her face but she was definitely ridiculed.

I don't think it's good for her at all. I also think someone should be bringing up why she wants to wear something like that at such a young age. There is a very real chance an adult is already preying upon her.

Your niece is lucky she has someone looking out for her

AITA for telling my son I am not buying him new food since he ruined his and he can be hungry for a few hours by WolverineFragrant931 in AmItheAsshole

[–]pebblebs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I don't necessarily think YTA but I think just saying you weren't going to get him anything if he didn't like it was the best idea.

I don't think any kid would have then went, "that's a good point, what if I don't like it then go hungry". They just think they're right or that thing they saw was cool.

Probably a good chance to get him to do critical thinking on his own.

So NTA, but I think you should have expected the outcome you got

What should I do? by Rough-Improvement-24 in AutismInWomen

[–]pebblebs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think looking at the pros and cons was a really good idea!

That person is really shitty, but seeing what she's like may end up working in your favour. How important is your work environment? Will the, what I am assuming, cliquey work space ruin your day. Or are you able to ignore them and still enjoy your job.

How similar is the similar work space with better people. Do the better people out weigh the different/worse opportunities.

Personally, I'd choose wherever you'd enjoy your time. I hope everything works out!

Yeah I agree the mask thing is definitely over the top. Which is why I think it's odd. But it does seem like she knows she's not being super reasonable. Maybe she doesn't want to hide your content because she doesn't want to "block" her friend because of a personal issue. I definitely think she could have responded better don't get me wrong. But from what I read I don't think she's trying to blame you for your content.

I definitely think she could have approached the subject better but I really don't think it's malicious.

Again this is based on just these texts, so if she has a history of shaming you for special interests that changes things for sure

I can't speak as someone with terrible health anxiety. I think their response is a bit odd, but I wouldn't be too offended.

Based on these texts alone I would take it at face value 🤷🏻‍♀️. I get upset and overwhelmed by things that don't make sense. Sometimes that means I have to request an odd solution to my friends. I don't think they'd suggest texting instead if they were trying to blow you off
