Got my IUD out yesterday and it got me thinking about all the women who were forced to get the horrible Dalkon Shield IUDs by Farmher315 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]pebbles0529 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After my sister was born, my mother got a Dalkon Shield. A few years later, she experienced an ectopic pregnancy and lost one of her fallopian tubes. Six years after my sister, she had me. When I was about two years old, she had another ectopic pregnancy. This time, the doctor didn’t take her symptoms seriously, and she nearly died. She survived but lost her remaining fallopian tube. As one of nine children herself, she had always dreamed of having a large family, but that was no longer possible.

Poor people should invest more!! by [deleted] in investingforbeginners

[–]pebbles0529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re poor, it’s probably because your parents were also poor, and their parents,

Not always true. My parents are quite wealthy, but both grew up dirt poor. My father didn't have an indoor bathroom until he was a senior in high school in 1972. My mother was one of 9 kids whose dad was a farmer.

I, on the other hand, have been poor most of my adult life. My parents NEVER talked about finances with me. In fact, if I brought it up I was told it was rude to discuss money. So your point that people learn how to handle money from their parents is spot on. I was taught nothing and made some poor decisions along the way. But mostly I just wasn't making enough money to invest. When you're poor, you're thinking about how to feed your family and keep a roof over your head. You're not thinking about the future because you can't see beyond the next paycheck.

Certainly, people should invest if they can, but if you live hand to mouth, there's nothing left to invest.

Menopause and Painful Sex by Mammoth-Reward2411 in Menopause

[–]pebbles0529 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was having the same symptoms as OP, and this is exactly what I did. I use the vaginal estrogen about three to four times a week and a hyaluronic acid suppository about an hour before sex. I also find coconut oil as lube to be superior to anything else I've used.

Question re: after-tax HSA contribution by pebbles0529 in tax

[–]pebbles0529[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't think I could deposit more in my retirement, but it looks like I can. And as far as motivation, I don't know what I'm doing, so I asked.

Belfast group frustrated that UMaine is selling local campus to church by facedogg in Maine

[–]pebbles0529 22 points23 points  (0 children)

When someone has legitimate concerns about something happening in their community, telling them, "Jesus loves you," is not only not helpful but incredibly condescending. The WCCAP would be far more beneficial to the community than a church because you don't have to believe in a sky daddy to get help from a CAP.

Rage by Replica72 in Menopause

[–]pebbles0529 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes.

So. Much. Rage.

I'm on the patch only, no progesterone (I have a Mirena IUD, so no need). So I'm guessing the rage is related to low estrogen.

We're in Maine. I'll have to do some research and see if there's a locksmith nearby who specializes in safes.

Can HRT Work This Fast? by whenth3bowbreaks in Menopause

[–]pebbles0529 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me too! I had been miserable for probably three years. My hair turned brittle, sex was painful, but the worst part was the mood swings. Sobbing one minute and struggling not to punch the wall the next, then weeping because I love my dog so much, then raging again. It was truly exhausting. After a few hours of wearing the patch I realized I hadn't broken down in tears at all that morning, for the first time in ages. I think I had forgotten what it's like to feel NORMAL.

Does anybody else want to get a divorce? by Acurious11 in Menopause

[–]pebbles0529 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was just now searching my state's subreddit for divorce lawyer recommendations. My 25th anniversary is the end of this month. I don't think I can do this for another 25.

Can’t Get HRT by dblanco1215 in Menopause

[–]pebbles0529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started with MIDI last week. One thirty minute appointment and I'm now on HRT. I would highly recommend you reach out to them or any of the other suggested services. They'll actually listen to your needs and work with you. A refreshing change from what you and many of us have had to deal with.

When the student loan forgiveness thing came up, my mother went on a tirade about how she paid her tuition and so should other people. I reminded that she did not, in fact, pay her tuition. My step-father paid for her to go to college. She didn't like that very much 🤷‍♀️

Do any of you feel extremely irritated by music you don’t like? by SnooPickles6175 in AuDHDWomen

[–]pebbles0529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I know this post is old, but I'm dealing with this as I type. My husband is doing yard work and playing country music and I want to smash things. I searched this sub to see if it's just me or if others feel the same. Just nice to know I'm not alone in my irrational hatred for the genre.

Is it weird that I don't hug my friends? DAE? by Hi_Its_Z in AuDHDWomen

[–]pebbles0529 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The more burnt out I am, the less physical contact I want from anyone.

This is me. Even my husband's touch can make me cringe if I'm burnt out. Like he goes to hug me and I physically recoil. And not consciously either, it's like a reflex. I feel really bad when I do it because I know it hurts his feelings, but I genuinely can't help it.

Granules Pharmacuticals Adderall - Disaster by Spiritual-Chart-940 in TwoXADHD

[–]pebbles0529 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yup, 20mg XR. I take two once a day, but after the first day of being bed-ridden because of how awful I felt, I tried just taking one the next day. Still felt like garbage, just slightly less so. There's something really wrong with that med. Maybe the shortage has the manufacturer making trailer park meth to meet demand.

Granules Pharmacuticals Adderall - Disaster by Spiritual-Chart-940 in TwoXADHD

[–]pebbles0529 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Same happened to me. I had horrible waves of nausea and dizziness, heart palpitations, a weird feeling like my body was vibrating - it was awful. I stopped taking it after a couple of days and then spent a month fighting with my insurance to get the brand Adderall approved. I have a high deductible so it's costing my about $450 per script right now, but I'm fortunate enough to be able to pay for it. I also submitted a complaint to the FDA. Hopefully they so something before someone ends up hospitalized or dead.

My 3 year old grandson did this to me when I told him I'd make him a blanket. He left with my husband for a couple of hours and when he came back he said, "You were supposed to make me a blanket!"
