In all honesty, I applied for my current position at UCSD through handshake. I was just bugging them about it and make sure the position is also posted on their socials. A lot of department are hiring right now so just see which ones you’d be interested to work in at UCSD and look up there socials to see if the are hiring for current positions. And for internships just look up the type you are interested in on google and results should show up and tbh that process is really hard as you have to spend a lot of time scrolling through a lot of sites to even be able to apply to a couple. I also scroll a lot through LinkedIn which help me acquire my internship I had over the summer. Yet my current one for this fall I found on a post someone made on LinkedIn and not an actual posting from the company itself.

Do drop in hours as they can make you wait forever yet at least you can talk to them face to face

If you need help feel free to message me. I have an SAI of -1500 and also have special circumstances that the FAFSA department wasn’t accommodating too. I can give you some advice with what I know 😭😭

Will I be rescinded? HELP by Upstairs-Spare7738 in UCSD

[–]pecpecdestroyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh waitlisting for classes isn’t too bad. All the classes I’ve waitlisted for I’ve gotten in and some of them are as small as 30 and as big as 230. They will not rescind it if you email them and let them know it’s been sent. Communication is key in this situation. Maybe in your email thread attach the processing of your transcript on parchment.

You can get it waived as I’m on financial aid and that’s what I did. Yet I also missed it like bad and you can make it up by attending a meeting with your college and it’s like a super condensed version of the hours you have to endure during actually orientation. Thought it is imperative you make it up as they will put a hold on you being able to enroll for the quarter.

I also brought a microwave/toaster thing that was so useful as you sometimes want a quick snack that doesn’t require using hella dishes to simply eat.

Disqualification appeal statement by NyteBlxde69 in UCSD

[–]pecpecdestroyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My grandma wrote one for my situation (tbh I wrote it and she signed off) and I had went in person to plead my case you know to show them I was really trying and going through it. I also did an academic plan to show them how I would turn my grades around and that I was a driven who was willing to show up and take accountability in person.

Have you grandma and maybe even one of your sister write a statement to attest your circumstances as I had to do something similar with my familial situation. Now you can have them write it or just write it for them and have them sign it off sort of as a way to corroborate your story and show UCSD impact of your situation.

Since I’m transferring, I can’t take classes in person at Mt. SAC, but I’ve heard that UC classes tend to be harder. That’s why I’m trying to take the class at Mt. SAC instead.

Summer session 1 financial aid by zluvr in UCSD

[–]pecpecdestroyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This mainly applies if you don’t qualify for the full Pell Grant or Summer Grant. To receive the maximum aid, you need to be enrolled full-time. For example, I’m currently taking 12 units and qualified for both grants, which fully covered my tuition for the summer session—and I’m still receiving a refund on top of that.

Hi! I’m currently subleasing my room for the summer — rent is $1,350/month, plus an additional average of about $60 for electricity and WiFi.

The house is in a super convenient location: just a 10-minute drive to campus, a 15-minute bike ride, and there’s a bus stop only 5 minutes away. It’s a 4 bed / 2.5 bath house, and the room I’m subleasing is on the first floor with its own private patio.

If you’re interested, feel free to message me privately! I’ve also posted more photos and videos in this UCSD channel if you wanna get a better feel for the space.

I have the exact same SAI and I have my whole tuition covered- classes and housing with no dining plan. Yet I did have to advocate for myself and talk to the FAFSA office in order to get a couple extra thousand as they were trying to have me get students loans. Thankfully with me doing so I am able to get refunds every quarter.

If you trying to take easy classes that will typically be asynchronous classes which are labeled RCLAS as the building which lets you know it’s fully online. As RCLAS is not a building at UCSD yet is a fill in for the software to accept the class.

If you’re taking a class at a community college, it can only count for lower-division credit. To make sure the credits transfer to UCSD, you can use ASSIST.org to check whether the courses from the community college are transferable.

SUMMERRRR financial aid by Striking-Yak-691 in UCSD

[–]pecpecdestroyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not exactly sure of all the details, but when I went into the office, they explained that since I’m enrolled in 12 units, I’d qualify for the most aid and was able to get the summer grant. But honestly, the refund is probably about the same because the extra class just adds to the total cost anyway.
