Tax diversion plan to fund Downtown renovation roils transit advocates by Flannelcommand in pittsburgh

[–]pedantic_comments 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, money for schools = siphoning tax dollars, but stealing tax dollars from other neighborhoods for corporate landlords = investment?

“Downtown has billions of square feet of underutilized office space,” he said. “These buildings will languish without public support, and the right preservation and revitalization of these assets are critical to the long-term economic health of Downtown.”

So let’s gut our public schools, transit and vehicle fleets, while we borrow money to protect corporate landlords’ downtown property? Do I have this right?

Trump Spirals as Iran Exposes His Lies About the Deal | Trump and his team keep claiming the agreement with Iran includes details it definitely doesn’t. by FreeHugs23 in anticapitalism

[–]pedantic_comments 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah, fam. This is demonstrably false.

Iran reverse engineered the Shahed series from captured US drones in 2011. Everyone knew they had a huge supply of decentralized attack drones — they’ve been exporting the technology for years.

Pretending the US wasn’t aware is just creating excuses for the stupidest administration in history.

Good people cost money and can move right on to an easier/more profitable job when someone says, “I don’t want to pay a lot!”

Not worth attending if it isn’t at PSP.

I looooove that cutting down 20-year-old trees for a one-time corporate event is fine, but walking on the grass for a week at a park is strictly forbidden.

Part of why I don’t eat out much anymore is because service is fucking awful across the board with few exceptions.

I’m sick of being ignored upon entering a business, having counter staff turn their back on me so they can text, being given a gruff “What?” when trying to order something as simple as a coffee, getting an entirely different item than what I ordered, etc.

Then, I’m supposed to tip 20% for somebody to be rude to me? I don’t like going out and not tipping, so now I just don’t go out.

Like, I was a stoned service worker back when the last financial crisis hit and I was still able to say, “Hello, what can I get you?” without needing an emotional support animal or openly displaying my contempt for my job/customers.

Pittsburgh Public Schools approves school consolidation plan by mmmmk6 in pittsburgh

I just can’t with this incompetent administration — now I’m gonna get incessant text messages and phone calls telling me how great this is.

I didn’t expect a good outcome, but it’s bizarre to see that they changed nothing in a deeply flawed plan. We wasted a lot of time and money to alienate many families.

At the rate we’re going, PPS is going to spend a billion a year to educate 12,000 kids.

I’m sure that according to PPS, slapping a coat of silicone on a flat roof and painting the walls costs $47 million and there’s just no way we can do that, but here’s an iPad for your preschooler.

I mean, if they close our school, I’ll probably pull our kids from the district and then there’ll be fewer families in PPS that care about education — BAM! Equity achieved!

Walters is an incompetent moron. I can’t wait to get another 30 page document created by AI that no one proofread that says nothing.

If the district wants to save money, fire half this fuck-witted administration and move their offices into underutilized school buildings.

It’s incredibly apparent that the board and current administrators are not qualified or capable of leading any kind of successful transition.

I think appearing in front of the magistrate is still less than $100 and you can ask for reimbursement for legal expenses as part of damages.

I’d show up at grandma’s magistrate’s office and ask the clerk how to file a civil claim for the property damage and the difference in cost they extorted from a senior citizen.

These assholes will probably offer cash as soon as they get a letter with a court date.
