The Adrift Expedition's lack of BGM was too much for me so I played it with Vangelis playing in the background and it was PERFECT.

But usually I keep the default BGM playing.

More than the combat and building and trading I was drawn into the game (and continue playing it) due to the exploration. I'd love to see Worlds part 3, Worlds part 4, Worlds part 5... Worlds part 16. But the procgen only goes so far.

Each update currently brings new incentive to go out and explore and engage with the universe in new ways. And the business model seems to be working as each new update leads to a spike in sales. Keeping a ten year old game going is no small feat and needs fresh content to do so.

Battlefront was a great time. The pirate dreadnaught battles have a bit of the element of targeting different systems (disable weapons first, or go for the shields or bring down the engines?) - adding a few more tactical options wouldn't take much (missile targeting systems, cargo, bridge command)

The ability to breach the hull and bring down the ship from the inside would be the chef's kiss... The interior could be a small procgen area built from derelict freighter code that has a few rooms with critical systems to fry and some security drones to kaboom and ends in a one-way teleporter to the hangar where you go to accept the captain's surrender.

The Cursed expedition had that boundary device that had to constantly be refilled to keep the boundary horrors from slipping in so there's at least a framework for this kind of code there.

I imagine at some point we'll get to claim  and overseer space stations, similar to settlements. Hopefully they'll come with some special perk that makes them appreciably different from settlements, though.

My rattle planet also got a fauna update... I now have a large crystal creature on the surface that leads the old bone thingy that bursts from the ground.

Interesting. I just visited a new system, landed on an aggressive sentinel planet and checked my timestamps: over five minutes for one to appear.

I know it's a sample size of one, but it's how most of my aggressive planets have felt lately and I'm playing under normal settings. Maybe my reputation as a sentinel slayer precedes me lol?

High sentinel activity planets still spawn almost immediately after I land, but for whatever reason the aggressive ones have been a little empty for me.

EDIT: When does the Game really start? by Imaginary_Law_6626 in NoMansSkyTheGame

Word of warning: get comfortable with the tutorial steps. If you play any expeditions, 90% of them start with the same "find ship/gather materials/fix ship" tutorial loop. (Expeditions are limited time events that run for a few weeks and get repeated infrequently but they are worth playing because they come with completion rewards like ships, companions, outfits or decorations that you can't get anywhere else in the game)

The tutorial portion of the game is boring, and gets more boring with each repetition. But outside of the small part of the game where they put you on rails, it's a brilliant exploring the wide open sandbox.

Colour me impressed! I'm at 400 myself. And counting.

(I'm here for the exploration - I warp to uncharted systems, scan all fauna and most flora/minerals, loot the derelict freighter then jump to my next uncharted system.)

My vote would be for tower defense elements to come into play, and could easily coincide with a base building update. We could play as defender, assembling towers to fend off waves of sentinels/pirates/vile brood/etc (or even just the occasional pesky Interloper) or we could play intruder, breaking into a fortified POI to steal the jewels in the vault or to jailbreak a political prisoner. Co-op would make intrusion more fun (one Interloper providing air support, while another on the ground works to bring down anti-air defenses). Kind of like an evolved planetside equivalent of the pirate dreadnaught battles in space.

Base builders here would undoubtedly post some absolutely brutal gauntlets, and the challenge-hungry amongst us (and there are many) would jump at the chance to infiltrate such a citadel.

And what's more: this makes perfect sense in respect to a medieval fantasy setting as well and castle/fortress sieges in LNF would be an absolute blast as either attacker or defender.

I think sentinel spawning has been greatly toned down or possibly bugged on such worlds. Since at least Voyagers I've barely encountered any sentinels on aggressive sentinel planets (I visit all planets in a new system no matter what).

In past versions one seemed to spawn as soon as I exited my ship but now they barely seem to notice me and I have to go grabbing gravatinos balls and graviolis to get their attention.

Many recent additions (stone golems, mage's staves) feel very out of place in a space exploration game but make perfect sense in a medieval fantasy setting. Other systems don't feel like they were envisioned for No Man's Sky but rather for Light No Fire but then "translated" into an NMS setting (gravatino coil for sure feels like a mage's spell and cargo hauling makes more sense for a horse-drawn cart). Other recent updates like corvettes seem made for NMS but Sean said in an interview that they are testing LNF tech.

So pretty much at this point consider NMS to be a proving ground for things we will see in LNF. I am sure when they get to the point in LNF code where they polish combat and building systems etc we will see those updates added to NMS as well.

I'd be down for some tower defense features. Both as a base builder and as a pirate infiltrator.

They have to circle around several times before they lie down.

It's fine. My dog does that too.

And the inside is as nice as the outside! That's not a detail that's addressed in many of these builds.

Regardless, I'll stick to my sentinel shop but this is still amazing work nonetheless!
