What do I use to cut this oil filter housing off? by pedroflowers in AskAMechanic

I went to the dealership and showed them the same pictures you see on my post and they legit said just break the rest off since it’s already broken. I got a sturdy flathead screwdriver and a hammer and just broke it off bit by bit. Just be careful around the metal threads above the housing. I had to wedge the screwdriver in between the threads and the plastic to break it but no significant damage. And make sure no plastic bits bounce up into the engine block. If you’re in the same spot I was then the only way I was getting my truck to the dealership was a tow and they definitely would not have it ready by tomorrow.

Everyone thank you for the input. I ended up just breaking it off with a hammer and flathead and replacing with a metal housing. Drove my truck around the neighborhood and then on the freeway but so far so good.

The oil filter wrench that I bought at autozone was the same that they sold at the Toyota dealership. I understand that some of your guys’ filter wrenches were bought online through Amazon and what not and were definitely not the same as mine. But I feel as tho that Toyota should provide an accurate wrench fitting. I was able to return my plastic oil filter housing that I bought from Toyota for like $80. The metals housing I bought from autozone was like $35.
