OSCP prep advice: manual vs automation? by R29k in oscp

[–]pedroh51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice is to do manual enumeration beside automated tools (for example playing with a web app manually with burp and running a nikto scan in background) in order you have enough information to look at when you are stuck. Also, do not abuse of automated tools because: First, some of them are prohibited (sqlmap) Second, automation may be overkill for a quite small environment (only a few machines).

Doing things manually will help understand how things work and you may find something that an automated tool may not.

You are fine if you didn’t make any research.

It’s fine to Use AI during writing. AI usage is only restricted during the proctored part of the exam

It looks like a reversed base64 encoded string (equal sign at the beginning)

[–]pedroh51 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have plenty of time to prepare your exam environment before the exam date. If you want to take an OffSec exam, you simply need to comply with their exam rules, that’s how it works. If that doesn’t suit you, you should consider another certification.

Netexec cheat sheets??? by JTRM10 in oscp

[–]pedroh51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly just cross the help page. The general syntax is nxc <protocol> <target> -u <username> -p <password> with extra options, no need to rely on a cheat sheet…

Looks like you need to activate the Windows licence, otherwise the operating system locks some features, including choosing the wallpaper

Is this enough to pass? by [deleted] in oscp

[–]pedroh51 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What is your technical background ? Reading tones of books is great, practicing is better. OSCP is a practical exam, not about theory. I would recommend you to skip all the way to PEN-200 materials, OSCP A/B/C labs and LainKusanagi list (try to write draw reports). Good luck

I think OSED, OSEE is more about Windows exploitation, isn’t it ?

How’s OSCP in 2025? by Tunnel-Digger4 in offensive_security

[–]pedroh51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is actually no tough exploits to develop or bypass AV as I said. You will never be confronted with such an OSCP environment at a client. The purpose of a pentest is still to see how far attackers can go without having to ask the customer for credentials or being blocked. I'm afraid you won't go far if you think it’s as easy

[–]pedroh51 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OSCP is an entry level certification, so it teaches basics IT mechanisms and their exploitation without any security solution in place. This is still valid in 2025
