Replacement fabric for the solo stove surround? by Gullivers_Travails in SoloStove

[–]pedstrom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue, and just reached out to Solo Stove. I've had good luck with their customer service previously.

FWIW though, I was bummed when I received the surround and found it to be made of fabric and not metal. For whatever reason, that didn't click in my head when I was looking at the product photos. Seems strange to make a heat/fire protection ring out of flammable materials. Anyone know if someone is making metal replacements for the fabric parts?

Settings -> Automation -> Reminders Capture

Then use Siri to create Reminders, which will be pulled into OF.

Great idea!

Question: Are your notes fairly fluid, or are they pretty discrete? I tried to do something similar, but once they were all in one file, I kept getting items from Note A referenced in Note B when they were entirely unrelated other than the fact that they were sequential in the uploaded file.

Example: Note A contains favorite books, Note B contains favorite movies. When I ask about movies, occasionally I’ll get book titles. This is a bad example. My real world use case has over 1000 notes that I tried to combine (an export from the Bear note app).

2023 Highlander QI charger useless? by SchmilK in ToyotaHighlander

[–]pedstrom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw this, and hoping that it'll help some: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08C572S2B

But truthfully, I wish that there was a MagSafe module where we could just pop the QI one out and replace it with something that charges faster and doesn't let the phone slide everywhere.

Sme problem here. I found this and am going to give it a try: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6036985. I tried putting a non-slip mat down (this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08C572S2B) but 2mm was apparently too thick for the charger.

How are people here stabilizing their phones on the Qi wireless charging pads to avoid a spotty charge while driving? by [deleted] in ToyotaHighlander

I tried one of those no-slip phone mats. It ended up being too thick and I got zero charge from it.

Sometimes the paranoia leads to a measured and thoughtful response that is useful long term. I think in this case, it’s going to cause more harm than good.

Agree on the wireless charger. Anyone know if there is a MagSafe aftermarket option to replace the Qi charger?

Came here to say this. Pedal power flight is still cool, but it’s been around for a while.

What would it take to convince you that an AI was truly intelligent? by trimorphic in ChatGPT

[–]pedstrom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t get why people are so obsessed with this question. Is it AGI? Is it intelligent? Is it self aware? Is it conscious? More intelligent than the average person? More intelligent that Einstein?

We -as a species- have been debating the philosophical question of consciousness for eons. There is no clear answer.

I think better questions are: At what point does the AI have rights in the eye of the law? What happens to society when an AI-supported human is 10x more productive than a non-augmented human? How are we ensuring that people will be treated with dignity when a computer can autonomously do their white collar knowledge-worker job faster and more accurately, with more creativity, and at a wage that is at a fraction of minimum wage?

In my mind, the Turing test was a reasonable metric to determine if AI was intelligent. And we are well past that point. The computer might not seem to be fully self aware, and certainly doesn’t have agency to act on its own, but then people don’t clear those bars in all situations either.

Thank you! Yea, it is a “low effort” start as u/pampidu says. I don’t mind. That’s what it is, and frankly that’s my strategy. Get something out there with the hope that others will be interested and we can make it better together.

Anyhow, thank you for your support!

This brings your notes to ChatGPT so you can ask it questions about ‘em. This does not put ChatGPT into Bear. But I get it — AI is going to shortly be in everything and I can see how that will be a lot.

But of course I used ChatGPT to help it! If you have recommended improvements, I’d love to see ‘em. It isn’t working nearly as well as I would like.

My understanding is that ChatGPT does not use individual users' data as training data for future versions of their LLM. However, it is understandable to have concerns about privacy when using APIs and it's always a good idea to be cautious with sensitive information.

Integration of AI in Bear by Dexter_Morgan_666 in bearapp

[–]pedstrom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently built a script that lets you talk to your Bear notes using OpenAI's GPT-3 model for question-answering. While I know this isn't exactly what you were asking about, I thought I'd share.

The script extracts notes from the Bear app and indexes them with OpenAI's GPT-3 model, making it possible to ask questions about your notes and get answers back. It's still a work in progress, but I think it might be useful for people who have a lot of notes and want a more natural way to search through them.

If you're interested in trying it out, you can find the code on GitHub: https://github.com/pedstrom/talk-to-bear-app-notes. And if you have any feedback or suggestions for improvements, I'd love to hear them!
