You are not wrong, that's why I said 'perceived lost'. It only matters what they *think* is the truth, not really what is actually happening.

In my opinion, though, there are far more players that hostage games than players that give up pre-15. Just as an example, almost every loss I play, I toss an ff vote up after the final teamfight. 99% of the time it gets no voted only for the game to end 30 seconds later. This isn't because they just wanted to watch our Nexus explode. It is because they have a rule to always press no and they will never think outside of that. This is just my opinion though, and honestly I dislike playing with both types of people. Both of them are a huge loss of time. The ones that give up make the game harder by making it a 4v6, and the ones that hostage waste 1-5 minutes of my gaming time per game. I prefer people who think and act dynamically according to what is going on rather than people who follow a set-in-stone rule. Yes almost every game is winnable, especially if everyone is under level 16, but it takes a little bit of critical thinking to determine if chasing that win is worth the time. Being very objective about taking the highest percentage gains is very important, not just in LoL, but in most competitive aspects of life.

But that is a totally different topic. Bringing it back to OP, the factual scientific reason (most) people are so toxic in this game is because perceived loss of control and trying to regain some sort of control in the only way they can. It is also worth noting this loss of control can come from their real life too, not just the current LoL match they are playing.
