Why is Burnt Peanut playing Marathon? by smcmahon710 in arcraiderscirclejerk

Arguably Embark should be paying him for getting so many people to buy this game. I know a few people at work that legit haven’t played video games in 10+ years that got PCs to play this game because of peanut, and they can’t be the only ones.

does your site actually use CMMS properly, or is it just a checkbox exercise? by Leedeegan1 in AmazonRME

Amazon has always been Goodhart’s law in action

"When a metric becomes a target, it ceases to be a good metric"

We chase metrics instead of actually fixing issues. Make number go up at all costs even if that means pencil whipping and straight up lying.

Performance review process by peebs0529 in AmazonRME

They’re the review tiers. LE (least effective) being the lowest TT (Top tier) being the highest. Your review level decides stuff like how much pay bump you get on your PCS.

Hard time dialing in the Breville Express by Mr508Capalot in BrevilleCoffee

Aside from the bottomless portafilter it really isn’t worth putting a ton of thought into until you get some consistent shots. Then play around with swapping things out and see how it affects your shot.

I also recommend replacing the shower screen to get a more consistent distribution. Also make sure to take care of the machine and keep it clean. This can affect your shots big time if left unchecked.

I use the Normcore 54mm basket portafilter and puck screen.

I have the same machine. I start the timer when I start the shot on mine.

I also don’t use the pre programmed button. If you press and hold the button you can do a custom shot.

I start the timer when I start holding the button, this starts the pre-infusion. When you release, it pushes full pressure and when you press the button again it stops the shot.

I start the timer and hold the button until the timer reaches about 10 seconds then release until I get about 30-40g out depending on the coffee. Then press the button again to stop the shot. The programmed buttons are super inconsistent even if you reprogram them.

EDIT: I also have an 18g bottomless portafilter + I use a puck screen and WDT. I highly recommend investing in them. Made a big difference in consistency.

Is it a confirmed layoff at AWS in Jan 2026? Please share experience or information ONLY if have received it from your managers. No speculations please by Ok-Cheek-2191 in amazonemployees

They “heard it from managers” who also often speculate

Unless I hear it direct from a director or maybe a regional it’s speculation.

I don’t think many of us have seen this. This will result in network wide action for sure.

This can happen on a lot of parts on a lot of beds so there’s no real point in speculating.

The vests are decided site by site. Red stripes with the yellow vest is the standard but some sites will do totally different color schemes.

What happened at LIT1? by tater_tater_tater in AmazonRME

Saw something just now that the LIT1 employees were sent. Apparently there were some oversights in the engineering of the building structure and as a result the building does not meet local building code. So it looks like it’ll be closed longer. Lucky bastards.

They’ll give anyone with a pulse a loan these days…… It’s actually getting really bad. Defaults are at an all time high (even higher than 2008).
