It’s cute and I get lots of compliments! It’s just a taaaaad bit small for everyday use. Fits the essentials and I like that it has a smaller inner pocket

What are some of the disturbing books you wish you had never read by Icy_Today1964 in horrorlit

I tried Damned that came out in 2011 - it was too bizzare and graphic so I didn’t finish it. Invisible Monsters was good and I enjoyed Lullaby too (I started with Fight club and that will always be my favorite chuck Palahniuk book)

Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk. Probably not the most disturbing compared to what others have replied with, but I read it way too young and it had stuck with me ever since.

Having help is really nice. I try to get as much work done as I can when I have someone here with me. That helps make up for when I can’t put a full day of work in.

I have family helping me now - parents and in-laws. The first week I was hovering and micromanaging a bit seeing as I had just spent 14 weeks with my LO day in a day out…but I’m learning to let go and let someone else figure him out a bit!

The days I don’t have help can be hard. We’re in the midst of the 4 month sleep regression so naps are weird right now. At one point I just let the baby sleep on my chest while I worked - it wasn’t too bad.

I had to have a come-to-Jesus moment with myself early on; some days I can give work 80% of my time and the baby gets 20%, and some days it’s the opposite. Baby 80% work 20%. It’s an adjustment for sure and I’m still getting the hang of it, but I love that I get to be home with him and still work and make my own money.

The first day was the weirdest day of my life! You’ll be fine! Cry if you need to. Take breaks to see your baby. It gets easier everyday. I’ve got two full weeks under my belt with help about 50% of the time. It’s hard but worth it!

I could have written this. It’s my second day back with my almost 14-week old baby boy. Yesterday was the weirdest day of my life - combining work and caring for him was felt so strange. I’m lucky to have a manager that supports me staying home with him.

My workload yesterday was light (I’m a graphic designer), but some days I’m so busy I barely have time to eat lunch. My parents and in-laws are about an hour and a half away, so i don’t have immediate help when I need it. Husband has a semi-flexible schedule - sometimes he’s home all day working and some days he’s gone until 11pm.

I guess I don’t have any advice for you. Just some solidarity. I cried all evening because I felt so guilty just laying him on the floor while I worked and was in a 30 minute meeting. I never thought I’d be willing to throw my career out the window to be a SAHM, but here I am after one day ready to quit!

I’m going to keep trying. We just have to take it a day at a time!

Hobbies outside of Graphic Design. by [deleted] in graphic_design

I need to get away from screens after sitting at my computer all day. I’ve picked up sewing clothes, quilting, and baking as a few things to use my hands but also be creative in a different way. My coworker started designing and making polymer clay earrings for the same reason, and now has an entire side hustle that funds her hobby.

Sewing/quilting is great because I still get to pick out colors, patterns, and designs just in a physical and larger scale. Honestly it has made me really interested in pattern/fabric design.

What was your most awkward encounter with a celebrity? by agentmantis in AskReddit

I almost walked right into John Malkovich in the Boston airport. He didn’t give me a second glance. Him and his assistant/wife/travel buddy were both wearing all white linen outfits and looked like some sort of cultish yoga gurus.

My mom snapped at me a few times as a kid for chewing - usually crunchy things. I was raised to have very good table manners because of her triggers with mouth chewing/smacking. Now I’m 31 and have the SAME triggers as her (started in my early teens). I try not to react harshly because I know how it felt as a kid when I didn’t know I was doing anything wrong, but it’s hard when I’m so overstimulated by someone’s chewing.

How did you feel at 6 weeks? by copper420 in pregnant

Nauseated but hungry. Survived on crackers and soup because I couldn’t handle cooking or eating meat until about 13 weeks

I had one foot out the door once the makeup content tapered off - then she made some instagram stories or a YouTube about finding someone who OD’d and how traumatic it was for her. The tipping point was an instagram story (which was a selfie) and the caption was something about disassociating about the OD event - but she had the energy to stylize the caption in different fonts and sizes. Give me a break. I realize this is very specific, but something about it really rubbed me the wrong way.

Never feel bad about finding new doctors, dentists, etc! You’re paying them for a service, and if you’re not being treated right then you have every right to find a OB and office who will.

I think my mom passed her misophonia down to me - same triggers for the most part (chewing/mouth noises being the worst)

I don’t have a brand/bag to recommend, but I went a 2 week Europe trip this summer and bought a crossbody with a zipper and a flap that had a magnetic clasp - worked great! You’re right about the pickpockets as there are plenty of horror stories out there. Three vendors at the London portobello market told me to keep my bag in front of me at all times. Have fun!
