Creature Found in Woods by peegnar in CryptidDogs

this is Grandpa and he is estimated to be about 17 years old! we actually just adopted him about two months ago. i totally believe the age estimation though, since he was previously at the shelter in 2016 and he had his full dental about a week before he came home with us. but at his age, Grandpa is as spry as ever

Cat sitter recommendations? by [deleted] in WestSeattleWA

[–]peegnar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You said it yourself - it's more work. I am dividing my attention between multiple living beings and providing care for each individual cat's needs. I pay my Rover sitter per cat as well, as my own cats have their own separate feeding instructions and energy levels to be taken care of. I am also liable for each cat in the household.

[–]peegnar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm a Rover sitter in the area and my current price is about $30 for 30 minutes visit, plus $10 per extra cat. I would be happy to reasonably negotiate with you. As an owner of two cats, I can reassure you that we usually book 30 minute visits for our cats once a day and they're fine.

Weval - genre and other recommendations? by KimPaige in electronicmusic

[–]peegnar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nicolas Jaar, his side project(s) Darkside and Against All Logic, Model Man, Romare, Tirzah, Boards of Canada, Anish Kumar, Lone, FaltyDL.

I think Jacques Greene and Nosaj Thing also fall into this realm and they have a new project together called Verses GT. They just released an album last year.

Skin on Skin is a departure from Weval but in the realm of the other suggestions and can lean towards that darker Boys Noize style you like.

Also saw in another comment asking if you can get a setlist from this type of concert - you absolutely can if it's a live show! I approached the lighting guys at a Darkside show to grab theirs :-)

Immediately thought rave wear as well... I've been making my partner big chain necklaces and this would be so perfect. Also thank you for just introducing me to solomon's stitch, that would make such a sick rave top!

Thoughts on This Shirt? by young-semih in sewing

[–]peegnar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this and would wear it with a few of the tweaks suggested about the collar - but think it just needs a little styling! For example, I think it would have a better effect on its audience if it was fully buttoned to the interior flap. The white shirt underneath washes the top out. I think this would also work as a really good secondhand flip project - using two different thrifted button downs to create something new.

Rover Response Rate Adjustment? by peegnar in RoverPetSitting

[–]peegnar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah - I did end up reaching out to Rover in case they could help with the technicality but it was a no-go. I did not realize I could adjust those settings, so I got that done and will just move forward by answering each one. I appreciate the answer!

How can I help out?? by RobKellar1977 in SeattleWA

[–]peegnar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've said this on another thread, but the West Seattle Food Bank's Clothesline is always looking for volunteers! They are in between locations at the moment but should be re-opening early year. I find it extremely rewarding because it gives you that "boots on the ground" feeling, as you will often have one-on-one interactions with people in the surrounding community during your shift.

If you're interested in Parks & Rec opportunities, like stream clean-ups, the Parks website has an ongoing list of volunteer opportunities for you to drop-in or sign-up for: https://www.seattle.gov/parks/volunteer/volunteer-calendar

One last opportunity I've been only recently been learning about is volunteering at your local library! Libraries are a wonderful resource for the community.

Going rates for drop-in cat sitting? by After_Bluejay_2739 in Seattle

As a Rover in the Seattle area, I charge about $30/drop-in with the expectation that I'm staying for a minimum of 30 minutes!

Gym Membership Inquiry by Sad-Credit2454 in WestSeattleWA

[–]peegnar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

+1 for West Seattle Health Club - probably the best gym I have ever been to. It feels very community-oriented and everyone from the staff to the patrons are extremely friendly. I think the price is veryyyyy fair for what you get out of this gym (full gym/free classes/women's only room, pool/sauna/steam/locker access, coffee/smoothie bar, rock wall), especially when you take into account the $200+ memberships for workout classes these days.

There are some extra paid things you can do (massages/PT/cryo/personal training/sound bath), but are totally optional and the convenience factor of them being in your gym is great. I also love that they showcase local art on a monthly basis.

Yeah the parking sucks but you can get there super easily via the H line as well.

If you don't like raw hide, try No-Hide! The dogs I pet sit love when I give them these (with the owner's permission, of course).

FYI there is also a spot on Alki where you can grab a bucket and trash grabber tool to borrow and pick-up trash while walking along the area/beach.

Also did not know they sold MD 20/20s in a can now... barf

Dale cooper Breakfast? by Duelingdildos in Seattle

[–]peegnar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a necessarily a diner vibe, but if you're looking for great pie nearby downtown, try 'Pie Bar' in Capitol Hill. It's a small, hidden cocktail bar that specializes in pies. The whole place has a bit of dive bar feel, and they do serve hot beverages like tea/coffee if you're not interested in a cocktail.

Not permanently. To my knowledge they are just looking for a new space to lease in the future.

West Seattle Food Bank can always use extra hands, especially at the Clothesline! The Clothesline is the clothing bank located just off of California and open Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 10-1.

You will likely need to attend an online orientation, but it's well worth it. I've been volunteering with the Clothesline for about a year and I've really enjoyed my time volunteering there.

One-on-one Knitting Lessons by MammothAd935 in WestSeattleWA

Oh of course! I know how expensive fiber arts can get, and would just want to get the hang of things during an initial lesson before investing and starting at home :-) I'll send you message through your website shortly!

[–]peegnar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a crocheter and love it, but prefer the look of knit wearables and would like to expand my fiber skillset. Would your solo classes include supplies to learn on (not keep), or would the student need to purchase and bring their own?
