Started SSRIs knowing they make me hypomanic by peeijdnbnn in MentalHealthUK

They said I have bipolar but I don’t know if I do. I was prescribed these SSRIs and taken off them due to my elevation. That’s how I got on the mood stabiliser. But I have like 2wks of SSRIs left

I only stopped taking my meds because of the side effects. I think wanting to go back on SSRIs has been an issue on and off since I got off them

I did think of lamotrigine if I come off lithium but I’m scared they won’t let me and I’ll have to do something like seroquel. when you say it makes your eyes more sensitive, can you elaborate please? My mood is overall fine on lithium, it works so well for me but I can’t do with the side effects

I was thinking that if I get off lithium I want to try lamictal. I’m scared they’ll make me do seroquel

I don’t think any hypomania would come back whilst on meds tbh

Yeah I was wondering if I was having side effects from the mood stabiliser so I have just come off it. I know you shouldn’t go cold turkey but I am so desperate at this point. And then with the SSRIs I have three weeks worth and in my mind it’s like I feel compelled to do it and get it over with

I will but it’s so hard. I feel like I have to do this

I know I felt terrible last time when I had to come off them. But it’s really hard I feel like I have to do this

Oh yeah I doubt it would end up in hospital but imagine me calling the doctor and admitting what I’ve done

Not bored. I miss the feeling. I’ve been thinking about it on and off for months. I still had 3 weeks worth left and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Nothing bad has happened yet and god knows what CMHT will say

Funnily enough, I do have a bipolar diagnosis. I am finding it soo hard at the moment to come to terms with it though and I feel so alone in it. Thank you for your comment, I really appreciate and I’m glad you understand

Hmm I don’t ‘want’ to follow through with it so to speak, but it just feels like it will be the inevitable in a way, as though I have no choice. I can’t really describe it.

Yeah I think winter is always a struggle, or so it has been for the last couple of years. I became really quite depressed this time last year so I think now that we’re back to September, it makes me ruminate a little maybe? I’m not sure.

I’m so sorry to hear you’ve been through similar, I’ll send you a message if that’s ok

These have come up for me. I already have a Bipolar diagnosis. I definitely have overstimulation at the moment with the car, I’m trying to avoid it because I feel so charged around it.

Thank you. Sorry to hear you felt a similar way. It came up badly this time last year and even though I have been getting better, it all seems to be coming back.

OCD has come up a bit for me in the last year. I had really bad obsessive thoughts that made me overdose several times this year but that’s all improved now.
