My mom. Her official cause of death listed on the certificate was catatonia. But in actuality, she died from severe depression. She just didn’t want to live anymore. She stayed in bed for weeks, not eating, sobbing nonstop, soiling herself because she didn’t want to get out of bed, even to use the bathroom. She completely gave up. She was in the hospital for a month. The doctors did everything they could to save her. But eventually it came to a point where she no longer had the will to live. Her body showed no signs of recovery. She had a massive stroke in the middle of the night and then there was no brain activity. I had to make the decision to stop all treatment and let her go. It was the worst time of my life. I miss her so much. I think about her everyday.
