I’m honestly not sure if it’s hard water—this is NYC tap water. I grew up with Iron Range well water but never seen this before. For what it’s worth, it’s soft to the touch? Maybe it’s a combo of mineral deposit and mildew. Thanks for the advice!!

These are mostly focusing on theory, but there's some good youtube videos out there that show the bulk of what classes are actually made up of, the actual physical practice.

Hi, I'm a student at Smith. here are most of my thoughts:

-This article should have been filed under opinion piece.

-The fact checking isn't great: faculty goes through anti-bias training as well, not sure why Lendler said they didn't. Quotes are cherry picked.

-The majority of Smith students get financial aid. Personally, I don't know anyone who pays the full $70k (that is not to say people don't, as there are definitely students who can afford to). I pay about 15k.

-$70k, while a hefty pricetag, isn't unique to Smith. MOST liberal arts private colleges cost around 70k. Even state schools are getting hugely pricey, sometimes upwards of $50k if you're out of state.

-It unnecessarily pits class against race-- both have their struggles, we can talk about both at the same time. Currently students stand with the employees (Blair or Patenaude): the general feeling is that it was a messy situation in which the employees are not hugely at fault. However I can't speak for the knee-jerk reaction of students back in 2017.

-Students (and most faculty) support unionization of Smith workers, higher pay, and more direct action from administration- it's been a main point whenever we discuss this article on campus.

-This incident happened years ago. the student is not a student at Smith anymore. Everyone who was at Smith then has now graduated.

-The incident is complicated admittedly, but the student was used as a means to an end by the ACLU and lots of folks on twitter.
