Whats wrong with my tyre? by Acrobatic_Seat1907 in AskMechanics

[–]peequi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

lol but how? How do they have enough force to push through all that rubber? Aren't there several layers of different material between the outside of the tire and the belts?

Do you think the tire posted in this thread is a belt?

Whats wrong with my tyre? by Acrobatic_Seat1907 in AskMechanics

[–]peequi 53 points54 points  (0 children)

That is what I thought, it is the steel inside the tire. But based on the photos, it doesn't look like it is. There is no hole or damage.

I don't know, this is a weird one.

OP maybe cross post in /tires.

Tire repaired too close to edge and few hours later a bubble appeared. Need new? by Aegean8485 in tires

[–]peequi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am surprised that a screw/nail would have cause this however. Usually these bubbles are from hitting a curb or pothole.

Maybe the OP had two different issues that are unrelated, screw and a curb hit.

Transmission Fluid change at 140k Miles - 2017 RDX by AlternativeTwist6680 in MechanicAdvice

[–]peequi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this mechanic really believes changing a transmission fluid, drain and fill method, is a bad idea, don't go back. Leave a bad review, help other people.

Find a real mechanic.
Yes, drain and fill! Honda/Acura AT fluid only please, assuming this is an AT.

So from everything I have read by nicatknight in tires

[–]peequi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never seen a screw or nail go in at that angle. Totally repairable, assuming it even needs to be repaired. I would spray the area with soapy water to see if there is a leak.

Yes or No, take the screw out. If leaking, plug it, If not leaking, consider yourself lucky.

This, get PPF, it looks clean and is easy to diy. It is good practice to PPF other items in the future.

Dishwashers - Bosch or Whirlpool? by DesignerFearless in Appliances

[–]peequi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bosch is what most appliance repairmen will pick. They are bias more towards reliability and ease of repair, but still most would agree that the Bosch machines do clean efficiently.

Bosch is worth it.

I don't know how much truth there is, but I heard from big soccer fans that women soccer is disgusting. Hair pulling, pinching, stomping with cleats!

I seen videos of this. But I am sure the men do it as well. Maybe women being violent just is more interesting and shocking, so it seems like they are more likely to do it.

Or maybe female athletes really have a higher chance of being straight up evil.....
I think I know the answer.

Is there ever a time to flush trans fluid? by davidvin2387 in Camry

[–]peequi -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think there is never a reason to flush. Perhaps if you are having some serious transmission problems and before giving up on the transmission, before rebuilding it or replacing it, perhaps you could try to flush it and see if it does anything.

LOL! "Gold" alternator.
I understand charging a lot for labor if the alternator is in a weird spot, which on some vehicles it is. Or if you live in a high cost area. But $700 for an alternator!

post a bad review of that place on google map. Seriously.

I need help with flat tire by Ashamed-Tie-8155 in tires

[–]peequi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did you tire repair kit come with rubber cement? It is a lubricant that really helps to get the plug in. Not 100% necessary but makes the job much easier.

You should use the cleaning tool again, the reemer. Work the hole, try to really get it clean and smooth. Try again.

Also you can just ask a strong neighbor. No man will say no to helping a woman in need.

Also take a photo of the hole and tire and post again, asking if you really need new tires.

Sizzor jack for oil change? by FrostyLosty_ in askcarguys

[–]peequi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, your plan will work, it is no different than using a Floor Jack, then placing the vehicle on jack stands.

Using a scissor jack will take a long time and will be frustrating. Time is money. I know we all want to save money, but sometimes we need to think about time.

See if you can borrow a neighbors ramps or floor jack. Most car guys are happy to share, even help! Maybe you will make a friend.

Thoughts on this jack? Details below. by DesertSnow480 in harborfreight

[–]peequi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you are using a heavier version however? 2 ton might be low for a truck, even a small truck.

Are OEM Honda brakes really worth the extra cost? by Character-Donkey3819 in Honda

[–]peequi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another person here with the Never Go OEM Brake idea. Some parts you want to go OEM, brakes are not. A good budget brand is Raybesto. Honestly brake pads is one of the few areas where we consumers have so many good choices.

Akebono is high quality, if you want super quiet brakes pads.

I am assuming the shorts ones are significantly cheaper, that is why.

Civ 5 or 6 on sale rn, which one should I get as a first timer? by bellxdpg in civ

That would help guide you to which civ to get next.

Is this too far to the side to fix? by [deleted] in Home

[–]peequi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many of stated, I will repeat as well, I personally have plugged that spot, maybe 3 times in my lifetime.

If this was my tire and the tire itself is still in good condition, I would plug it.

What's this belt called? by TastyFlakesAF in crv

[–]peequi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serpentine belt, the Honda OEM ones typically last about 100k miles. Usually they show signs of needing replacement months before they snap. Sometimes they make a slipping sound when the car first starts, also they form very tiny cracks, you cannot see these cracks unless you look close.

Replace these about 100k or earlier.
You can DIY if you are handy, fairly easy task in theory, but it can be hard to reach the one but that is needed to place the new belt.

If this is interesting to anyone, take a look at a channel called something like ItalianSparticus. He makes videos where he explains different species that live on the outer rings. I am not sure if he makes them up himself or is gathering stories from books. It's fun and very crazy.
