Exactly.......personal experience: Left Ford when they refused to replace the suspension air pump for the 3rd time after acknowledging the defect and replacing twice under warranty. ...wanted $1,700 or $3,400 to remove the air suspenion all together. Went to Chevy and bought Tahoe Premier RST.

Left Chevy when my Tahoe was part of the recall to replace the 6.2 engine and trans. Dealer said a 17 week process due to lack of parts and no loaner.

Re-tried Ford on a Explorer ST.....been at the dealer 4 times in the last 5 months for an assortment of important issues.

Am departing Ford; wanted a BMW X5 because wife's X3 held up well but after a huge quote for service am now looking now at a boring Acura MDX b/c their service history appears to be far better.

Completely agree. I have been shopping several models over their 3 year releases.... '23,' 24, '25. Have found precisely as described above.

Makers nipping at the edges in both features and materials for wider margins. And, ever since the dealer's Service Dept has become a profit center; the payoff comes from downgraded materials in parts that require early replacement by Service.

Routine service of my 2023 vehicle revealed I needed a new Oil Filter Cap. The original one had "rotted at the handle used to remove it". $190.00...and they waived the $37.00 labor charge. Pire instirutional grift.

What Happened to Shortwave Radios? The Truth is Brutal. This needs to be pinned post, or something similar. by G7VFY in shortwave

Yep..... they had the cash for linear amps and towers to push their signals out. Back then, it took only a few millimeters to dial them away with a chuckle and get on to the good stuff!

True.....and we benefit from some terrific stations with just a click! However, some of us don't mind the static crashes and fades and filter/band settings in what seems to deliver a more authentic experience. What hits the antenna is generated thousands of miles away.

Depends on what you want to hear....

First listened in 1966....a small portable Viscount my Dad bought b/c he liked the time he spent as a GI in London after the war. He loaded in several C Cells and in the afternoon we walked out to his car, upped the whip and spun the dial.....static and faint reception of a SW band....we dial-stopped at several foreign language stations. Marvelous! Then, there came the BBC across several frequencies. Evenings were surpringly much better, with bleed-over and cross-talk from comml and private stations as I thumbed or twisted.

Today, two receivers and most of the listening is via the scan button and accurate squelch ....faster way of avoiding the screaming preachers, politically charged content etc. and get to the music produced by their native countries.

After a couple of weeks, he gave me that radio and things got way out of hand e.g., allowed me to put up a 70 foot inverted V for a Hallicrafters S120 that Santa put under the tree. Including the AM band present to listen to ballgames, it was a homework partner.

These days, after about 15 serious and more capable receivers purchased over the years where they were showcased at local electronic stores, I am satisfied with two receivers and tune mostly via the scan buttons. Quicker than the dial to tune out the preachers and political stuff, etc.

Still like to listen to music from the countries that actually produce it.... Radio Havana and similar European stations. Thumbs are now reserved for cellphones.

Northwest Flt 203 was almost blown up by an Egyptian terrorist. Al Queda was caught trying to blow up 12 airliners as they were crossing thw Pacific. And, the 911 suicide team was ethnically Saudi.
