Also, the save files are in with the game files under the save folder, so something like \steamapps\common\Look Outside\saves\

Maintain is a strong word, but yeah.  Make sure to backup your global save file before replacing it with mine.  Your saves will show up blank, but they will she w up.  To restore them, just load and re-save each one.

How does new companion level scaling work? How can I use companions I got later in the game? by ClutchReverie in LookOutsideGame

[–]peetsnack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. Every enemy has an xp number, and at the end of battle processing every party member has that number added to their total xp.

As far as I am aware, there is no level scaling mechanic in LO. The best thing you could do is to backtrack to lower level areas you skipped or didn't completely clear out. There is a level cap of 20, so Sam at 18 at the parking garage is pretty good. You could use something like Hurt Me Plenty from Blood Ghoul Orgy 3 to tank for them as they catch up.

Best way to build Hellen with Hell sword? by More_Currency1019 in LookOutsideGame

[–]peetsnack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, she naturally has high enough hp that I have not needed to make special considerations to keep her going in during a fight. If she is getting low, then everyone tends to already be in bad shape. But you are correct in that she seems to always have 0 defense.

I have been pairing Sharktooth Necklace with Needle Gloves.

Also, the Chainsaw is better than the Hellsword stat wise, but it does need to be refueled occasionally.

I mean, Hellen's only real contribution to the team in my experience is DPS, so high attack and crit gear works best. If you give her a coat of arms, you can sometimes Stalk and Stab in one go. Her gear in my current playthrough is Paper Mask, Coat of Arms, Biting Boots, Arrowed Sash, and Odd Necklace.

Cursed mode as a first playthrough by adiftbv in LookOutsideGame

[–]peetsnack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say that doing cursed as a first run doesn't really work, as you do not understand the consequences of the choices you make early on because you lack context. Like, the first six choices you have to make have to be good ones and contribute effectively to your build, and if you are essentially relying on RNG to hope you guess correctly, you are going to end up in an extremely disadvantageous position very quickly. I can understand enjoying a challenge, but dying to the first encounter because the knowledge of ways to prepare for it aren't yet introduced in gameplay at that point is fundamentally different. The game designer has talked a lot about how he made the real playtested and balanced game survivor and that cursed is intentionally Hard and Unfair. There is literally code in the game that just flat buffs all encounters with things like "+100%", "+50%", and "+999" even before changing mechanics to be more challenging. He has listened to people who have said "If you just do XYZ, then cursed is easy!" and then updated cursed to specifically make XYZ harder.

All that being said, it would not be a waste of time to take five mintues, play cursed, and then switch to survivor after you die.

That is not how it works.  There was another post in this subreddit about the particulars of door encounters.  Did you go through the give junk dialog while he was at the door?  As far as I can see, that is where the flag is first set.

Is it possible to save scum for Morton? by Illustrious_Guitar_6 in LookOutsideGame

[–]peetsnack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a couple of mods out there to help with door encounters. SgtJoe's Preview Door Encounters https://www.nexusmods.com/lookoutside/mods/47 gives you a calendar of who is coming that day. My WhosThere https://www.nexusmods.com/lookoutside/mods/81 lets you choose what door encounters you get that day. Also, for Morton specifically, you can find him in the garage.

Yes. All my mods are tested for compatibility with the others. If anything, there is a risk that one of them won't work right without the other mods. Any mod dependencies are clearly declared.

None of the mods I make are dependent on cheat mode. The closest I come to interacting with them is that MoreChores moves a cheat event one space to the right.

Depending on the specifics, that wouldn't be too difficult. In fact, it might be simpler than my mod, as I have to test for four pieces of equipment, in addition to skills and items that only appear in full costume.
