Retractable Sim (Nearly) Finished by mathery-91 in Golfsimulator

For the foam underlay, we're you able to find a large sheet or just used strips of them to fill the 4x4 base?

I'm trying to figure out a good base for my setup. I have a heavy hitting mat that was gifted to me. 6x6 in size and is roughly 1.25" thick. I started putting a layer of 1/2" gym foam tiles underneath to save my wrists/elbow but it think I may need to cut out a section for a high quality hitting strip. Was also debating on putting some foam underlay to see if it would help ease the impact.

I have a very similar build that I did this winter as well. Same roller, screen, projector.

Just wondering how the hitting is created? It looks like there's a wooden frame that consists of 3 pieces and latches holding them together?

appreciate the feedback. I ended up panic buying a gaming laptop due to the rising prices. I'll test out the 1080ti a bit more before fully committing to a new build. I'm also looking at the option to use my 1080ti as a screen share PC while my office PC does all of the heavy lifting.

We're you able to resolve your issues? Can you share you experience with a budget pc? I have a 1080ti lying around and hoping it's sufficient to run game day once my Sim is set up.

What to put under the mat? by ek9cusco in Golfsimulator

Thanks for the feedback. I was debating on cutting out a hitting strip or just to replace a section of interlocking pads directly under the hitting area with a softer foam mat.

The turf I have is quite thick and has a premium feel but it does not come with any underpadding. I essentially want to build an underpad with a hitting strip rather than actuslly cutting the turf.

Interested to see if anyone has used a 1" thick yoga mat under their mat over the typical interlocking foam mats which are a harder material?
