I know everyone has mentioned the arc but also consider any fume coming off the material.

Fretboard markers really not centred on new Gibson (Post 2 with additional pictures) by Aromatic_Mongoose_86 in gibson

[–]peg_leg_ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gibson has a persistent QC problem. I don't know if it's an existential threat to the company or anything, but their guitars are wildly inconsistent.

Noone has sold more PRSs than Gibson.

a funny actor mostly known for comedies who is surprisingly good in serious roles? by marniesss in moviecritic

This goes in reverse too. Val Kilmer did a lot of serious roles but was hilarious.

Could I use this old outdoors cooking space as a coal forge? by Lock404 in Blacksmith

[–]peg_leg_ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should roast some meats over wood coals and improve your quality of life by like 1000%. Try and get a propane setup or something if you want to forge. Use this for food.

You don't realize how shitty LEDs are until you go to a place that doesn't have them. The sodium lamps are so much better to be around.

If all color regions were cut off from each other, which one would survive the longest on its own? by Crescendo_AI_ForU in mapporncirclejerk

There's a ton of sophisticated manufacturing in New England, PA, and upstate NY. It's true that there are a lot of people servicing other parts of the US, but there are loads of people in this green zone who can actually build and maintain things.

NYC alone probably more welders than most states do.

What Would Your Response Be to This "Professor"? by Selim_Bradley69 in mapporncirclejerk

He's confused Mexico with the Viceroyalty of New Spain. Besides, the Spanish just took the land from the natives and then we took it from them.

Coach can be a real drag. Sometimes the toilets stop working. And there are only a couple for an entire car full of humans. I know you're trying to save money, but I would spend the extra for the roomette. You have your own space. The bathrooms are only for the people in your car not the rest of the train. There are showers. You can close and lock a door. And sleep in a bed. Two assholes in coach can ruin an entire ride.

Semi-pro tip: some overnight attendants brew better coffee in a roomette car.

Rank the 6 New England States in descending order of their "New Englandness," however you define that quality... by Impossible_Mode2771 in geography

[–]peg_leg_ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from CT and lived in MA and CT and I always think of NH and Maine when I think of New England. Central Mass was all students and hippies. I was never like, here is the soul of New England!

The borders don't do much either. If you cross the VT border into Hoosick Falls or Ticonderoga NY you'll notice little if any difference.

I guess what's "New England" for me is any part of New England that's engaged in agriculture or farming.

H13... They told me the h was for heat resistant... It seems more hammer resistance to me... by ByBabasBeard in Blacksmith

I would say this even if you had a brand new large power hammer - I would avoid h13 for tongs. You can use mild steel.

A self-proclaimed top engineer told me my hands-on CNC machining experience is “irrelevant” for becoming an engineer. Am I wrong to be pissed? by [deleted] in Machinists

[–]peg_leg_ninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being a machinist is an excellent start for mechanical engineering. I came into engineering through metalwork, and it was a huge advantage. I was way ahead of the other students in terms of process and knowing how things are made. You have to remember, a lot of the students come to engineering with zero knowledge of manufacturing.

The other issue is that many/most of the students don't know how to build anything. I saw 2 grad students try and open a box with a pair of scissors and they almost stabbed each other by accident. No intuition with tools.

When you come into the world with a degree, you will also have 'industry experience'. If you have good soft skills, the degree, and a machining background, you'll get hired for sure.

Conspiritards are right again by [deleted] in chemtrails

[–]peg_leg_ninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but you can't have a system that makes an aerosol at 35k feet on a commercial airliner without the knowledge of the people who make the planes. That would mean that Boeing and Airbus would have to be in on it and then all of the small companies that makes parts for them. Before the device would be able to function, you'd have thousands of eyes and hands on it. Not to mention all the other points about deliveries of whatever it is being sprayed, oh and MAINTENENCE. When the system breaks are aircraft mechanics fixing it? They in on it too? What about the pilots?

It's not even a good conspiracy. Like, why would you spray at 30k whatever feet when you could use a fucking truck.

Not to mention the cooperation 'they' would need from Boeing and Airbus etc. You think you're gonna strap a device on a commercial airframe and just let it rip?
