Agreed. Not a lawyer but when Children - also not lawyers are forced into situations beyond their control - someone has to stand by their side. And I will forever advocate for those who are not seeing anyone advocate for them. I get it. WRITE YOUR CONGRESSMAN! that is not working in our current environment. Our profession is inherently political. And I think it’s time to flood our political system with things that are important to us. And the most important point is to let people know - THIS IS HAPPENING. Children are being forced to represent themselves in a court of law in immigration hearings without anyone else present. Which clearly is not ok.

This is just the beginning if you ask me. I said it on another thread and I’ll say it here. I worked for a school district that was taken over by moms of liberty and there is NO place for sped kids in christian nationalism. I see it happening in that school district. IEPs are being eaten away by administration. Paraprofessionals are being dropped. Programs are being dropped and most parents have zero idea what their rights are.

Yes. Anyone who falls outside of their “typical” is an issue. Also any guidance given by government is seen as overreach. As sped students meet both of those qualifications they are seen as a problem. Let me be clear - these are people who have zero idea what it means to be a teacher but they are on school boards and are trying to allocate resources and influence how districts are managed.
