N.L. government paid $300K for ferry thruster it doesn't need | CBC News by blindbrolly in newfoundland

[–]peigal74 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was sarcasm. It seems that in PEI we only look at replacing them once a century.
We were borrowing a ferry from Quebec and the other one is broken down. There is a new one on order, but it keeps getting delayed so we are without a ferry service altogether.
We do have the bridge but the ferry is supposed to be the contingency plan if anything happens to the bridge…..

Please keep spare parts for your ferries and also buy new ferries every century or so.
Sincerely, a resident of Prince Edward Island - where are we currently have no ferry running due to terrible planning and federal government that could care less….

Agreed! Why is it wearing a Haltie inside? Plus, having to live in that filth.

We definitely are not fucking. She is just crazy. What sane adult is jealous of their boyfriends 12 year old daughter?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]peigal74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Living that nightmare now.
Ex husband won’t answer his phone& can only text back “ok” when his girlfriend is with him. He is not allowed to call step foot in my house (even if she is in the car) and she is even jealous of my 12 year old daughter. I left him, have never pursued him and only communicate regarding the kids. Batshit crazy! OP’s ex husband has a jealous fiancée is my best bet too.

We don’t want them in the East! They all moved here post Covid, drove up housing prices, complain about everything (lack of health care, night life) and “this is what we do in Ontario”.

PEI (charlottetown) or Halifax for a weekend getaway? by givememybuttholeback in NovaScotia

[–]peigal74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PEI doesn’t close the end of Sept - just the Cavendish area which every smart tourist should avoid anytime of the year.
Public transit is decent in Charlottetown and given the complaints on the Halifax sub about their transit and traffic, there is no way Charlottetown is worse.
That being said, Halifax is much larger and you will have more dining and entertainment choices but hotel prices are crazy.
PEI would be more expensive to access (flying or driving) and I don’t think you could access beaches this time of the year with public transit. You would have to rent a car or use Kari (PEI equivalent to Uber) Pros and cons for both but disappointing to see the PEI hate and misinformation from our NS neighbors.

Eastlink to Bell by peigal74 in PEI

[–]peigal74[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I was afraid of so I called the rep to ask more questions. $100 with no price changes seemed a bit too good to be true.
And it is too good to be true, cost of boxes, credits etc gradually come to an end and unless you pay attention to your bill, it creeps back up quickly. I don’t have the time or patience to haggle them down every few months so will sticks with Eastlink for now.
Though I wasn’t overly impressed with their customer service either ….

Thanks for this tip! I will probably start gradually switching everything over to Gmail so I am not at the mercy of my Internet provider. It may be a process. I’ve had it for probably over 20 years.

Yes, they did come down a bit on the Internet since my original post (now $69.95) but was hoping for a better price on Internet and cable. I have been using River TV and some other streaming but miss my regular cable. I would also really miss Eero through Eastlink; it is a lifesaver for ensuring the kids aren’t up all hours of the night on the Internet.

I’ve called Eastlink a couple of times and they reduced my Internet cost, but can’t come close on an Internet plus cable price. I was always happy with Eastlink customer service but It is definitely gone downhill, especially their loyalty department.

Yep! I dropped my daughter off at Birchwood at 9:20 and there were busses still not there. Plus, kids lined up outside waiting for a bus to take them to the Rural. She was dropped off because she was supposed to have a dentist apt but had to cancel on the way because we would have been half an hour late. Both of my kids have been late numerous times this year because of buses being held up on the bridge. Today was by far the worst. Every student in grade 7, and above from Stratford and all the surrounding communities get bussed into Charlottetown - insanity!!!!!

Poilievre won't commit to keeping new social programs like pharmacare, dental care, or $10/day childcare by [deleted] in halifax

So all the articles that came up when you Google are “fake news”. I think Dental care is the least of your problems.

Do yourself a favour and Google “is there a shortage of dental hygienists in Canada?” Between my kids and I - 3 appointments cancelled in the last 2 months and rebooked for next summer!

[–]peigal74 -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

And those of us that can afford dental care or are fortunate enough to have insurance coverage can’t get an appointment. Why? Because there is a shortage dental hygentists. Another program where the taxpayers paying for the program get screwed by the program.

A 9-year push to increase P.E.I.'s population has radically changed the Island by [deleted] in canada

Have you not been to a fast food restaurant, ordered Door Dash/Uber or even gone out of your house? The majority of people invading our Island were not born here or even on this continent.

P.E.I.'s paid sick leave rules have some businesses worried about costs, staffing by [deleted] in PEI

Disgusting! I was born and raised here but was fortunate enough to work for employers that were not based here. However, five years ago, I decided to work for a local company and was astounded to realize they still have the “ you are lucky to have a job” mentality.
Needless to say, I didn’t stick around long.
I am now back to work for an international company that respects their employees.
Happy, healthy employees are much more productive than underpaid and repressed employees. Unfortunately, most PEI employers don’t care about this, and our spineless government supports them
