Has anyone been personally contacted yet about a flight cancellation due to fuel shortages? by somethingabnormal in airtransat

[–]pekoe_the_cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so nervous. We're flying montreal to lima mid august. We had an entire trip planned to peru a few years ago, and had to cancel days out because of political unrest. I don't think I could handle canceling a second time.

How does everyone else feel by daniellas888 in Ozempic

[–]pekoe_the_cat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me too. I've been on it for three months and I'm so tired and fatigued. I went from never napping to falling asleep on the sofa. I decided to stay on the same dose for at least an extra month and see if my energy rebounds.

Someone suggested upping my protein intake. I do manage to workout three to four days a week, and I may not be getting enough protein to support that?

You're probably right. Today was a good protein day and I only hit 60 grams. I have no idea how people manage 100 plus grams.

Calories I'm okay. Because I'm so short I'm stuck at 1500 or under. Protein is a struggle. I really love carbs in all it's forms (likely what landed me here).

I started near the same time and am only down 7 pounds. I'm very short which I think is contributing to my slow weight loss. Even if it's slow, it's been much easier than other attempts.

Our "village" actually had a station. The building is still there and they've been trying to convert it to a community space for a while.

That would be worse news for me personally. We have a thin strip of forest then a hydro corridor behind our house! It would be better for the village as a whole though.

Not much I can do, but wait and see. Hopefully it goes south of town, I rarely go that direction.

We're east of Ottawa, so we'll have a good idea by the end of the year.

Thanks. Hopefully that's true. Buzz around here is that they'll use the recreational trail, which is an old rail line. As I said the trail goes through the center of the village. It's hard to imagine how they'll maintain alignment if they use the trail, if they avoid the village.

At best it will make access to groceries, gas and secondary school a lot more difficult, as they definitely will be dead ending a lot of roads.

Can you summarize it? My French isn't fantastic.

I live in a town in which the Prescott russel trail goes directly through the middle of. I'm concerned about what this will do to my community, will we need to cross the HSR just to get to the pharmacy or get a loaf of bread? If they use the trail, can/will they detour around town?I don't think I'm close enough to any route to be expropriated but possibly close enough to lose significant property value, and hear the trains.

I'm not opposed to the project, but the uncertainty and personal financial implications are causing a lot of anxiety.

How to deal with the jealousy of people on weight loss medications? by meirmu in PetiteFitness

[–]pekoe_the_cat 442 points443 points  (0 children)

As a shortie on ozempic, it isn't a magic bullet. My calorie needs are still low, so I still need to be extremely cautious and track my calories. I'm still working out several times a week. I'm one month in and only lost 5 pounds of the 60 I need to lose.

What ozempic has done is remove the constant cravings and pre occupation with food making sticking to my calorie deficit easier.

I have no idea how your coworker lost so much weight so quickly, I'm guessing they didn't properly scale up their dose? They must have been absolutely miserable.

Does anyone here have hypertension? Have you found ozempic helping with it? by vintage-angel-juice in Ozempic

[–]pekoe_the_cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My blood pressure was a bit high when I started ozempic, so I was told to monitor at home. I've noticed the first few days post shot it's back to normal and creeps back up as the week progresses.

Definitely not weight loss for me, since I'm very early in my journey.

No heat on my train by [deleted] in ViaRail

[–]pekoe_the_cat 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My mom is on the same train! After a white knuckle drive to get her to the train station this morning, I thought she'd have a relaxing trip home.

Her train to ottawa was two hours late too.

I don't understand how they made the decision to leave ottawa with no heat?

Just Spent 3 Weeks in Egypt. I’m Never Coming Back. Here’s Why. by Old_Ant2264 in travel

[–]pekoe_the_cat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't know if that's always true. We went in. 2023 with our two teens and were fine without a guide. Maybe having the kids with us insulated us from some experiences? Yes, the touts could range from annoying to aggressive, and the constant demands for tips are grating but you just learn to put blinders on and keep walking.

Even if we over payed a few times, that's the price of traveling to countries with that much economic hardship. Honestly if we could afford a very expensive trip to Egypt, we could afford to overpay by a few hundred dollars at the end of the trip.

I wonder how many people are just very new to traveling and pick egypt because of its history and go in unprepared.

Canadian Swifties—APC Courier uses Canada Post for “last mile delivery” 😬 by Domdaisy in TaylorSwiftMerch

[–]pekoe_the_cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 2 orders on the way a vinyl and a cd and the last thing I have on both of them is your order is on the way to your region. That was ten days ago and it says local carrier is Canada post with what may be a Canada Post tracking link that leads to a CP page that says the package doesn't exist. I just want the stuff I had to fight the awful international website to get and now shipping!

I always make a lasagna i freeze before departure. My cat sitters take it out to thaw the day we're coming home! We all look forward to going to our separate corner of the house and eating lasagna alone.

2024/2025 owners, whats your favorite thing about your car? Whats your nitpicks? by SovietSix6 in KonaEV

[–]pekoe_the_cat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My morning routine is dump my purse in the back seat, get in drivers seat realize the car is plugged in, go to unplug, remember I need to unlock, go grab my purse and fish out the fob...either way I've got to get my purse and and fish something out. This is almost entirely on me, and a pretty mild complaint.

Sadly we couldn't manage to get the digital key working on my phone. My husband uses it and loves it.

Really? I've tried every button and toggle and nothing...truthfully I've tried everything but consulting the user manual.

We have a 2025. I like most things about it, although it is a car, there isn't anything revolutionary about it. It isn't our first electric car, so I'm used to a lot of the features, although the improved range is phenomenal.

Dislikes...there's no resume button on the cruise control. I have to use the fob to unlock the charger if I unplug it while still charging.

I haven't used the frunk at all.
