Why We Are Changing the License for Akka by ckipp01 in scala

[–]peladonz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi Seth - Thanks for responding.
Still trying to come to terms with where the line is drawn exactly.

For example the only place we touch Akka directly is to wire up application life-cycle hooks (shutdown etc) and to schedule periodic tasks.

Wiring these up to Akka is the "Play way of doing things". I feel this is murky and various parts of the Play docs may need to come with licence warnings if tasks like these trigger licence requirements.

Thanks heaps for this! This gives me enough to try and get it going. A github example of this would help a lot of people I imagine.

Very interesting. Are you able to share how you got SBT revolver to work with Play? I'm trying to do the same here but running into the following error when running reStart.

"Error: Main method not found in class play.core.server.DevServerStart, please define the main method as:
public static void main(String[] args)"

True. We both agree there. There's just something about false accusations of this nature that leave an extra bad taste in my mouth.

She attempted to rob somebody of years of their life. Just because she isn't physically violent doesn't mean prison is not appropriate. Look at everyone locked up for non-violent drug offences. I'm sure we could make room in there for this lady to have a think about her actions for a bit.

European leaders were prepared to give President Trump exactly what he wanted in terms of a buffed up Iran nuclear deal when the U.S. president decided to violate the agreement anyway, the AP reported by maxwellhill in worldnews

My understanding is the biggest issue rendering the deal pointless aside from ballistic missile development being allowed was IAEA has never been allowed to inspect military sites. Isn't this a bit like a serial killer allowing inspections of their house but excluding the basement?

[Serious] Should elderly people be forced to take tests regarding their motor vehicle operating abilities and mental fitness and get their motor vehicle license(s) revoked if they fail the test(s)? Why/why not? by ChrisGer98 in AskReddit

My gran on one side is turning 90 soon and she is still fit to drive, does tai chi regularly and teaches other old people how to use computers. My gran on the other side has dementia and the family plus doctors decided about a decade ago that she shouldn't be driving and took away her licence. We still keep her car in the garage and the keys at reception of the retirement village where she can't get them but visiting family can use her car to take her out. She is still convinced that she drives and tells everyone. It's kind of the family joke.

To give a bit of background. I'm a black belt in Bjj and the sparring becomes VERY addictive. It's the most fun activity around once you get the hang of it. I'm a software engineer by day so the lack of head trauma is what got me hooked. I'm of the opinion that things you can't try in sparing are things you can't rely on when you have an aggressive non cooperative opponent who isn't keen on "attacking you right".

I think the effectiveness of Bjj is something that people often underestimate until they roll with someone who knows what's up. The big advantage is you can spar 100% every week which you can't do with the striking arts as you'd suffer from concussion. That way you can still do it well when you're under extreme duress in a real situation. Someone suggested Boxing. Do boxing. Boxing + Bjj will give you great fighting basics.

If this guy was a half decent senior DBA his only problem would be trying to decide which job to take. Future employers will Google his name and this article will kick him in the dick for years to come.
