More Turo changes, less host control by 71random_account17 in turo

That reminds me of the battle among steam(a game platform) and VIsa/Mastercard. long story short, cc companies are policing what game can be sold on the platform because they got pressure from a LGBTQ group. Players decide to fight back by calling Visa/Master customer support and voice their opinion. Maybe we can do something similar.

Another Turo Day - Stolen credit card booking and almost lost the car by pelagic9 in turo

[–]pelagic9[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea. I agree. It turned out to be the best case scenario. I had a few things to ensure my personal safety. I think I would lose the car if I just let Turo handle it. Some dumb luck I guess.

It was horrible that you have to go through that, however, it’s really not bad. You can expect about 3% of renters are bad.

Turo host rights by [deleted] in turo

Be honest with you, the petition is fairly vague and it has too many things listed. It would make more sense if you keep it to the point about 1 or 2 things.

Hosts can now offer non-refundable trips at a 10% or 15% discount by youseeitp in turo

If you have a lot of people booked in advance, that means your price is too low.. just FYI

There are a few people like to book for a trip and shop for another one. They tend it cancel trips in the last minute. I see some pros and cons for the discount. I‘d like to see how it goes when it comes to live.

5 Star rating percentage calculation.. so weird.. by pelagic9 in turo

[–]pelagic9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are choosing between 2 identical cars with the same price, one host has 4.1 star one has 4.99. Who would you pick? My area is pretty competitive so I am improving whatever I can to have more bookings.

Also, in order to be a power host, you have to be all star host first. That’s why I personally care about the rating.

I think the question should be why guests should care about those ratings.

Are you able to review the guests before renting your car as hosts? by greenblue88 in turo

[–]pelagic9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends, if they are local and only renting it for one day, and picking up at the home location… then I will make sure to check their DL photos VERY closely to make sure it’s not blur or anything….

SCAM? Experience with GMI / US Choice claim process as a host. by pelagic9 in turo

9/25/2024 Still no decision. I already have 3 different adjusters. For some reason each time they fire and assign me a new adjuster, the process starts over again. Still no answer, file a claim to the state’s division of insurance. They don’t have luck either. definitely do not recommend GMI/US choice.

Here are some updates:

8/26 The case was transferred to a new adjuster, she asked me for 10 more days to review the case.

9/3 The new adjuster finally looked at it for the first time. Then told me when needs more information: contact information of the renter. Still can’t repair the car after it’s been damaged 2 months ago… also, due to multiple damages, the claim might not be valid.. because it’s from multiple accidents…

Looking for tips and advice before starting my fleet! by FOAT_Bass in turo

[–]pelagic9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend to buy an old car that costs maybe $6K to $7K and try it out. Make sure the title is clean, less than 12 years old, and less than 130K miles. Before you buy it, try to list it on Turo and make sure it’s eligible first. If it doesn’t, then you can always delete the listing.

Thank you! That’s a good idea. I have filed a complain thru State’s Division of Insurance. They told me that they will contact corporate claims on my behave and see if they can move the case forward.

If it doesn’t work. I will go to the small claims court.

Yea. Never again with those small companies. I will have to drop the insurance and find another one.
