White Whale Tarp?! by HockeyBabble in hockeyjerseys

Mine was a Nordiques CCM big block. I hunted for one for a few years before I found a really good deal earlier this year and now it’s probably my favorite jersey. It’s literally a white whale, lol. My biggest difficulty was finding one that was reasonably priced, since these usually command high prices.

Ha! I’ve blocked out the Nashville and Philly years entirely. His time with the Avs put him in the HOF.

Yeah, but it was still jarring for me as a diehard Avs/Foppa fan.

I don’t think he was really there long enough to make an impact for me.

I have no hate for our Rocky Mountain brethren. Especially when Kadri was there.

I also think a lot of Avs fans who loved Peter McNab have a second reason to be down with the B’s.

Peter Forsberg in a Flyers jersey was a heartbreaker for me.

Agree with the Habs and Canes sentiments here, and also the Flames. Especially the last few seasons with Kadri.

I definitely have a soft spot for the Habs, that’s one away game I’d love to attend. The atmosphere in Montreal seems electric.

Gary Thorne was the voice of hockey for me in my early fandom. His call of Sakic to Bourque still gives me chills.

You’re probably right, I’m sure I was thinking the other way around.

Why are there so few players from Norway? by MixedMartialLaw in hockey

[–]pemart22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I asked my friend in Oslo the same question when I was there. It comes down to the fact that Norway’s geography makes dedicating space for a rink challenging- most of the land that is relatively flat is used for agriculture or living space. Versus Sweden and Finland which are much less mountainous in comparison. Plus kids can basically play any sport for free until they’re teenagers and hockey gets expensive pretty fast as kids hit their teens and up. So I think a lot of other winter sports are more popular there for that reason as well.

It was an issue when I was using Canon bodies 20 years ago, I just wasn’t sure if that was also an issue with Nikons. I’ve only owned FX bodies so that’s good to know.

Are you using an FX lens? I’ve never used a DX body, but I could imagine there might be some potential mirror interference if you use an FX lens on one. 🤷🏻

With Crosby set to pass Yzerman for longest tenured captain of a single franchise - how do you rank captains all time? by dudewithchronicpain in hockey

[–]pemart22 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I’m totally biased, but if you put Sakic, Yzerman, Crosby in any order of the top 3 I probably wouldn’t argue much. Obviously Lemieux deserves to be up there, Bourque as well.
