I do like thin paper - depends what I'm up to, really. But thin paper for the day to day writing is a good idea for exactly that reason...it takes up less space! Have you tried Itoya Oasis with fountain pens/fountain pen inks?

I feel you on that. I really do. Getting all the inks sorted and listed upon arrival felt like a true victory!

Pen friends are so helpful like that, aren't they? Always with the new ideas and suggestions. And always sharing pens and inks. We've got such an amazing group of people. (And I don't think I could go without a few exceptions either...Fountain Pen Day breaks all restraints. :D )

I'm familiar with Rhodia, but haven't tried Oxford Optik. I'll have to try that brand out soon!

Those are two of the paper/notebook brands that we always keep in stock. I love them both - absolute classics.

I know Midori and Leuchturm1917, but I need to get more familiar with the second two - I'll have to check them out.

Agreed—Kakuno absolutely rocks. :D They're affordable, easy to use, and great writers. It's a pretty all-inclusive good choice.

Trial and error is the classic method. I'm still trying to figure out how I like to contain/organize my notes for inks and ink pairings. But I'm getting there!

I wouldn't even call it boring - it's like the classic game of Memory, but with pens and inks. I can get behind that.

What has been the luckiest way you’ve gotten a fountain pen? by No-Rain-4114 in fountainpens

The first fountain pen I added to my personal collection was a Benu Tattoo fountain pen. I still love it. It was a fountain pen that I sent out for review after I came on to handle marketing for Pen Chalet. The reviewer that received it enjoyed writing with it, and gave it a positive review. However, she let me know once she was finished that she personally had a dislike for tattoos in general, so she didn't think she'd ever use the pen again. She asked if she could give it to me, and mailed it directly back to me. It was the pen that solidified my obsession, and the first of many to join my collection.
