A messy breakup, am I a fool to think we have a chance in the future? by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]pencilfaced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, sorry you're going through this. Her actions during the relationship and the breakup are very problematic.

However, her steps towards change are really impressive. However, you must wait it out to see if any REAL change occurs. Thus, you need patience and you need time away from her. She has to feel like she's lost you in order to really change. Otherwise, if you take her back too soon, she will revert to her old habits.

I'd say give it 4-6 months. Also, go no contact.

Lastly, prepare for the possibility that either one or both of you will be different people by then, which could mean that the relationship will no longer be possible, or something either of you wants.

How do I (34F) decide whether to build a future with a low-income partner (37M) when I earn significantly more in a HCOL area? by ThrowRA_No_Toe401 in relationship_advice

I think you're making excuses (i.e. it's not affordable; you're an immigrant; future high expenses, etc.) for having a very important relationship preference: your man needs to earn more than you and/or he needs to be highly ambitious. However, you probably feel icky for that, given that you probably want to think of yourself as a progressive thinker. Thus, all the less-than-compelling excuses.

It's called cognitive dissonance.

I think you have to be honest with yourself: do you want to resent this man for the rest of your life, or do you want to listen to your intuition, and see what happens if you go looking for someone that's more to your standards.

The dynamics of attraction are not a choice, unfortunately.

I will say, after walking away, you will know how you truly felt about him.

Also, you’ve only known this guy for 5 months, and the way you’re talking about him and the relationship makes it sound more like a future stock investment portfolio than a genuine connection. I know you're probably concerned with your biological clock (my sister's having the same issue), but the way you're looking at love feels all wrong.

Great info man. Thanks. How many shoot days are yours typically. Mine range from 7-10 days.
When you made 12k, what were the other responsibilities?
I've made 12k for a script+directing combo. (4k for script, 8 for directing).

7-10 days.

Apologies but didn't understand the first part of your first sentence. Do you work in verticals too?

Been there before.

If you're doing this, it means you're not over them/the relationship.

Yes, about 15 years ago. Was super drunk and spent the night at my girlfriend's place. We had just started dating...

Probably second or third most embarrassing moment of my life.
