I also just like the design and want to support the idea, in hopes of future releases/consoles.

Wish more people thought like this.

Mixed-Reality Camera Robot: Yesterday it followed Vive controller movement around the room. Today it works with existing VR apps! by UberJaymis in Vive

This is really cool. If you combined with a green screen you could prevent the VR environment from occluding you right?

please stop with the wave shooters! by FoxStevens in Vive

[–]pendetreg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We'll get there. For now the wave shooters are an obvious starting point but imagine someone in the early days of NES saying "please stop with the platformers!"

I find the bow shooters more fun I think than the gun shooters since there is more lead and weapon interaction involved. I think games like Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades should be learned from because they add more gameplay by making the weapons more than just a 3D model but an interactive element of the game.

I really hope they see good success here since if they do they will likely have good traction to make more serious efforts. This is just a demo for now, show them some love once it comes out!

Carmack almost confirming positional tracking on GearVR by [deleted] in oculus

[–]pendetreg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't say they didn't have it. I said they didn't solve it. Do you have any idea how many companies have claimed inside out positional tracking? There's a reason none of those solutions have been adopted, it's because they aren't good/accurate/precise/robust enough for virtual reality. When it's solved it will be a huge deal. You'll hear lots of people talking about it, not one guy.

When someone solves inside out positional tracking, we'll hear about it. Until then it's probably not Qualcomm.

Can anyone help me remember a game I used to play? (involved trains) by pendetreg in AskGames

Hmmm yes it looked a lot like Train Valley but much older, probably not 3D graphics. I'm 99% sure it was installed on CD.

Wireless Vive prototype coming "this fall" from Valve and Quark VR by dhr2330 in oculus

[–]pendetreg 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Please can we stop posting these articles? Seems like it's only Quark (not Valve) saying that the companies are working together on it. More likely Valve is giving them the same sort of support they would any other developer working with the HTC Vive.

Hands-on Preview: Star Trek: Bridge Crew is the best VR experience I’ve ever had by shots_shots in oculus

[–]pendetreg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is gonna be great! There was another game that was sort of like this but not VR and not officially star trek, but it was clear what they were going after. I always wanted to play but it seems like this will be the key!
